What does this have to do with the disgraced rapper Diddy? Well, a viral trend on social media has been going around for quite some time, which revealed that the phrase “No Diddy” is now the slang expression when someone says something and they don’t mean it in a homos*xual way.

Ryan Garcia informs Oscar De La Hoya to pause and say “No Diddy

At the press conference event, Oscar De La Hoya spoke to the crowd and said, “He’s hungry to get on top,” pertaining to Ryan Garcia’s determination to win. The audience’s reaction immediately stole De La Hoya’s attention, wondering what had happened. To fill him in, Garcia explained, “You forgot to pause. That’s no Diddy.”

De La Hoya finally got the message and apologized, then proceeded with his speech. We’re not exactly sure if the former boxer keeps up with social media lingos or if he knows Diddy’s issues, but where did this phrase actually come from?

No Diddy” basically means “no homo”, a term used after sentences that might be interpreted to have queer meanings. It is to affirm that the person saying it is straight. This phrase came after lawsuits were filed against the rapper, accusing him of intimate relations with fellow men.

The issue that he might be queer came around the same time he was accused of s*xual harassment, trafficking, and racketeering. While his other allegations were tremendously shocking, his alleged intimate contact with men was magnified after a now-deleted tweet announced that “No Diddy” is the new slang for “no homo.” The phrase got more traction after rapper Gucci Mane released a song called TakeDat (No Diddy).

The term was heavily criticized due to its homophobic nature. Either of the phrases denotes a not-so-good approach to homos*xuality. The “No Diddy” slang also takes away the seriousness of the allegations against the hip-hop mogul.

Diddy’s queer allegations stemmed from a lawsuit filed by his own producer

Diddy has been in a lot of trouble even before he was arrested in September last year. Over the months that followed, several victims have come forward to tell their stories and accuse him of various crimes. The issue came to light after his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit in 2023 alleging him of physical and s*xual assault, among other cases.

A few months later, music producer Rodney Jones accused the rapper of grooming him as well as forcing him to participate in carnal acts with s*x workers via Rolling Stone.

Diddy indeed has some serious work to do to clean up the mess he’s in, but he’s awaiting trial scheduled for May 5 so he will have to stay put for a while.
