Kevin Feige Should Be Fired- Deadpool Creator Wants a New Boss After Anthony Mackie’s Captain America 4 Lead To a Disaster

Rob Liefeld, the co-creator of Deadpool, has once again aimed at Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. He called for a change in leadership after the disappointing box office performance of Captain America: Brave New World. Liefeld, who has publicly distanced himself from Marvel over the years, believed that Feige’s reign as the producer of Marvel Studios should come to an end.

His tweet came after the latest Captain America 4 saw a sharp 82% drop in domestic box-office sales during its second weekend in theatres. Although this is not the first time Liefeld has expressed his discontent with Feige, he previously criticized him after the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere.

Rob Liefeld calls for Kevin Feige’s removal after Captain America: Brave New World box-office failure

Rob Liefeld, the comic book creator of Deadpool and Youngblood, has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with Marvel Studios quite a few times. His criticism was sharp and direct. In response to Captain America: Brave New World‘s struggles at the box office, he tweeted on X, “Get Feige off the mound. He’s spent.”

He expressed his strong criticism that the long-time Marvel Studios president and producer, Kevin Feige no longer deserves to be the president of the company. The movie, starring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, had an underwhelming second-week performance. It earned $7.2 million at the domestic box office in the second weekend which is an estimated 82.4% drop from the movie’s domestic opening day.

Despite a strong opening weekend grossing $100 million, the movie experienced an unprecedented drop in its second week, bringing the total to $141 million. The movie marks the 35th movie led by Feige to become one of the highest-grossing Marvel franchises of all time.

While the MCU had once been at the top of its game, a string of underwhelming releases, including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, has led to a decline in critical reception and audience interest.

Rob Liefeld previously shared his reason for severing ties with Kevin Feige and Marvel

Liefeld’s remarks aren’t just a reaction to box office results; they also reflect his growing dissatisfaction with Marvel’s treatment of comic book creators. In his recent Observations with Rob Liefeld podcast, the Deadpool creator revealed that he had severed ties with Marvel after feeling snubbed at the premiere of Deadpool and Wolverine last summer. He expressed that not only was he and his family excluded from the afterparty, but that his red carpet experience was deliberately unpleasant,

It was meant to embarrass, diminish, defeat me.

He claimed that his red-carpet photos with movie creatives were deleted suspiciously. The comic book creator further claimed in the podcast, “Kevin Feige does not treat comic book creators well. That is my personal experience.”

Additionally, the Deadpool creator had voiced frustration over his perceived lack of recognition for his contribution to Deadpool and the X-Men universe. He had even reached out to Marvel ahead of the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere, hoping to receive special credit akin to what creators like Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster received for Superman. All these claims marked hid final straw in his relationship with the company.

As Marvel Studios faces its most challenging period in years, with both critical backlash and declining box-office results, Liefeld’s call for a change in leadership seems to resonate with some fans, especially Marvel’s connection with Disney.
