The Wicked cast, including Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, imbued the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards with their signature magic.
Erivo, 38, Grande, 31, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode and Bowen Yang were among the stars of the musical film in attendance for the Sunday, February 23, event at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
Wicked was nominated in five categories this year — Erivo, Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Yeoh, 62, Goldblum, 72, Slater, 32, Bode, 24, Yang, 34, and Peter Dinklage are competing against the stars of A Complete Unknown, Anora, Conclave and Emilia Pérez for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
In the individual acting categories, Erivo, Grande and Bailey each earned nods. Erivo is up for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role against The Last Showgirl’s Pamela Anderson, Emilia Pérez’s Karla Sofía Gascón, Anora’s Mikey Madison and The Substance’s Demi Moore. Grande is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role against A Complete Unknown’s Monica Barbaro, The Last Showgirl’s Jamie Lee Curtis, The Piano Lesson’s Danielle Deadwyler and Emilia Pérez’s Zoe Saldaña. Bailey, for his part, is vying for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role against Anora’s Yura Borisov, A Real Pain’s Kieran Culkin, A Complete Unknown’s Edward Norton and The Apprentice’s Jeremy Strong.
Wicked received an additional nomination for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture, with Deadpool & Wolverine, Dune: Part Two, The Fall Guy and Gladiator II rounding out the category.
Since its November 2024 release in theaters, Wicked has racked up a bounty of awards nominations. In January, the film took home Cinematic and Box Office Achievement at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, beating out Alien: Romulus, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Deadpool & Wolverine, Gladiator II, Inside Out 2, The Wild Robot and Twisters.
Earlier this month, Wicked earned three trophies at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, including Best Director for Jon M. Chu, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. The film also received accolades for costume design and production design at the 2025 EE British Film Awards.
As awards season runs its course, Wicked fans still have plenty to look forward to in the months ahead. The musical is nominated for 10 Academy Awards — best picture, best actress for Erivo, best supporting actress for Grande, best costume design, best film editing, best makeup and hairstyling, best original score, best production design, best sound and best visual effects — in March, and the second part of the film, Wicked: For Good, is set to premiere in November.
