‘Should not eat’ alert as iconic Irish snack recalled ‘in best interests of consumers’ as ingredient ‘not declared’


IRISH consumers have been warned they “should not eat” this popular Tayto product as an ingredient is not declared.

Tayto have recalled their Tayto Waffles Bacon Flavour 100g Sharing Bag in an urgent allergen alert.

Customers should check the best before date on their crisps[/caption]

The presence of soya is undeclared on the packaging of a number of bags of the snack.

The impacted batch have a best before date of July 3, 2025.

And the time stamp is 01.20am – 06.05am.

Tayto bosses are advising customers with a soya allergy or intolerance to not eat the affected batch.

Tayto officials said: “Tayto Snacks is issuing a voluntary product recall.

“Undeclared soya allergen found to be present in a small number of packs of the below listed product.

“The below batches of Tayto Waffles may contain soya which is not declared in the list of ingredients.

“The affected batch may be unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of soya and therefore these consumers should not eat the implicated batch.”

Tayto confirmed they are working with the Food Safety Authority to stop the sale of the impacted batches.


Tayto added: “This recall has been initiated in the best interests of our consumers and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“Tayto Snacks is working closely with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland and with our customers to ensure the potentially affected product is no longer available for purchase.”

BEAUTY RECALL

TK Maxx and Homesense is carrying out a recall of the Elgetec Pro Hair Straighteners Salon Iron Platinum Edition.

The retailer said: “The risk presented by this product is fire and explosion.

“The plug and fuse do not meet required safety standards.

“The brand is Elgetec. The bar code is 7426978603181.

“There are approximately 250 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

“The product was on sale in TK Maxx and Homesense stores between January 2019 and December 2022.

“Customers should stop using the product immediately and return it to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund.
