A WOMAN has given her council house kitchen a total transformation whilst on a budget.
So if the cost of living crisis has made your purse feel tighter than ever before, but you want to glam up your home without breaking the bank, then you’ve come to the right place.

Stacey, a cleaning enthusiast and bargain lover from the UK has revealed that she used bargain buys from B&Q to give her kitchen a glow up.
The DIY fan who lives in Wolverhampton proudly took to social media to show off a before and after look of her kitchen, leaving many open-mouthed.
Stacey shared the short clip with the caption ‘Council House Kitchen Renovation’ and what was once a very dated room, with a purple wall and brown cupboards, has since been given a brand new look, all on the cheap.
Prior to its mega makeover, Stacey’s kitchen had brown flooring and white tiles.
But seconds later, Stacey then gave her followers a close-up look at her kitchen after its makeover – and it’s totally unrecognisable.
The purple wall and brown cupboards are nowhere to be seen, and the flooring has been replaced with trendy tiles.
Not only this, but the backsplash has been updated, along with the counter tops too.
Stacey later confirmed: “We stripped off the laminate stuff and just painted them with B&Q cupboard paint in Cancun.”
If you’re loving the colour of Stacey’s new kitchen cupboards, you’ll be pleased to hear that the DIY enthusiast used the GoodHome Durable Cancun Matt Emulsion Paint, which costs only £2.25 for a tester and just £18 for a 2.5litre tub.
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @cosy_councilcorner, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 125,800 views, 2,242 likes and 52 comments.
DIY fans were impressed with Stacey’s kitchen overhaul and many eagerly flocked to the comments to express this.
Not only did people describe it as ‘beautiful’, but others were convinced it had been done by a professional.
How to do your council house up on the cheap
- Take inspiration from pricier shops and head to B&M, Home Bargains for interior decorations.
- Head to YouTube for easy to follow tutorials on how to decorate rather than paying for professionals.
- For a quick glow-up for your floors or anywhere with tiles, opt for stick-on vinyl to save on costs.
- A lick of paint does wonders to make a room feel brand-new.
- Switch out kitchen cupboard knobs for modern ones instead of buying brand-new cupboards
