But for Star Wars fans, he’s best known for his role as Corporal Stordan Tonc in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Now Jordan has shared that he was offered the chance to reprise his role in the critically acclaimed series Andor, which is a prequel to Rogue One.
However, there was one unexpected catch – he would have to chop off his six-year-old dreadlocks to make it happen.
Posting on TikTok this week, the musician recalled his excitement at the opportunity.
He explained: “I was asked to be in a season of Andor, I don’t know which one. My character from Star Wars: Rogue One, Corporal Stordan Tonc, he was going to come back. I was like wow, that’s mad exciting.”
But the excitement soon turned to disbelief when he was told to change his appearance for the role.
He added: “A week before the shoot, they were like, ‘Can we see what you look like?’ I sent them a picture and they were like, ‘Can you cut off your dreadlocks?’”
Jordan was taken aback by the request, especially considering how small the role was.
The rapper continued: “This is what they asked me to do, for one scene. Obviously that’s ridiculous. That’s like six years of hair growth, I’m not cutting it off for one scene.
“What’s even more funny is I said, ‘Why can’t I just wear a helmet like I did in Rogue One?’ and they went, ‘We don’t think it would be realistic’.
“A reality where we’re fighting slugs with laser guns but wearing a helmet is too far. Nice.”
Andor has been widely praised by both fans and critics since its premiere in 2022, earning a 96 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The show was also nominated for three Emmy awards.
The second season of the hit series is set to air in April.
