A MUM has hailed her “shy” son for saving her life after he helped get her an ambulance during a severe asthma attack.
Katie Miller, 35, was at home alone with her kids on the afternoon of December 29 while husband Jamie was out for the day.

The mum-of-two suffered a severe asthma attack and started panicking when she was unable to locate her inhaler.
Katie, who couldn’t speak due to the medical emergency, frantically dialled 999 while brave Joshua, four, relayed the message to a call handler over loud speaker.
The NHS worker told The Scottish Sun: “Joshua saw me and he knew straight away what he needed to do.
“It felt like 10 minutes but it was probably just a minute. The call handler spoke to him first just to give him some confidence and then he was able to tell her my name, the first line of our address and that we live in Ayr.
“He was able to answer all of the standard questions that they ask, such as whether I was clammy or breathing.
“He kept really calm and the handler stayed on the phone with him until paramedics arrived.
“He is such a shy boy so it’s just amazing that he was able to do it. He is a superstar in my eyes.”
The ambulance technician took Joshua and his three-year-old sister Abbie away to play while medics treated Katie.
Brave Joshua has been nominated for a Brave@Heart award by the Scottish Ambulance Service for his efforts.
Katie added: “The nomination alone is incredible.
“Because he is only four, he doesn’t really realise what he has done. I think phoning an ambulance can be nerve-wracking enough for an adult in any situation. So for a four-year-old to manage it, it’s just massive.
“We were invited to our local ambulance station and we met with the paramedic and technician, Marta and Kyle, who came to help me that day and we were given a tour.
“I think it’s so important that other kids are taught the importance of these life-saving skills. It’s not until you’re in that situation that you realise the importance of it.”
