Fans of Marvel Rivals, gather around because we’ll go deep with this one game-changing trick. Your favorite talking tree, Groot, seems to have gotten a trick up his bark that can change your gameplay considerably.

This ingenious maneuver called the “Groot Skip”, has become pretty popular among fans, providing them with a significant advantage in-game. The trick gained fame thanks to notable players who demonstrated this trick on their social media platforms.
How players are using the Groot Skip
The “Groot Skip” as seen in the videos allows the player to bypass the middle section of the map and create a route to the capture point for your team. Preferably, the trick can be used in Convergence mode, when the player is on the attacker’s side in the Central Park map.

In the video a player called themilesmeyer, we see him take a right from the spawn point take a right down the stairs, and use a Thornlash Wall horizontally on the edge of the cliff to build a platform.
This “strategic maneuver” cuts down the arduous process of reaching the Capture Point Room down to some simple clicks and jumps. After reaching the room, as seen in themilesmeyer’s clip, Groot can build an Ironwood Wall to create a chokepoint and secure the objective.

The Groot Skip is a game-changer and can be used not only to capture points but also to ambush and isolate enemy players. Executing this move, however, would require great coordination with other team members.
Having at least two members to distract the enemy would stave them from attacking Groot and pushing the hero off the platform.
The creative genius of the trick

There are other heroes like Spiderman or Venom who can cut off the entire map much easier than Groot. However, Groot’s platforming ability allows team members to piggyback along with Groot to become a force multiplier for ambushes.
Ever since the Groot Skip became popular, some players have called it unfair as it gives an enormous advantage to the teams using Groot. While the opinion is valid, and can ruin player experience, the trick is not fool proof either.
Players who are aware of such tactics can anticipate and counter this move easily. The skills and coordination required to pull the Groot Skip are also demanding and may be a hindrance to the team if not executed properly.

Beyond the advantage the Groot Skip brings however is the layer of creativity it brings to the game. The risk-to-reward ratio to execute the Groot Skip makes it a valid and effective strategy.
The only question now is whether the developers of the game, NetEase Games feel the same way about it. Will Groot’s daring acrobatic tactic be a staple for Marvel Rivals or a fleeting legend of the past?
