Now, fans believe that Mike White‘s casting choice was perfect as Schwarzenegger was essentially Saxon Ratliff in real life.
In the first two episodes of The White Lotus Season 3, Schwarzenegger’s Saxon is portrayed to be a character that the viewers hate to watch. He is a gross, materialistic douche who says and does the most inappropriate things on the show. However, the most vile thing he does is walk naked around his sibling.
Fans on Reddit believe that White has made a wise choice in Schwarzenegger’s casting. After his ‘nepo baby’ meltdown, fans don’t have a great opinion of the actor, making it easy for fans to see the depth of doucheness in the character.
Another fan believed that White’s casting was intentional as he cast Sam Nivola, another nepo baby, in the role of younger brother, Lochlan Ratliff. Patrick Schwarzenegger is frustrated by the ‘nepo baby’ accusations
Patrick Schwarzenegger wasn’t happy that many fans claimed that his nepo baby status brought him the role of Saxon Ratliff in The White Lotus. He told The Sunday Times that he earned his roles with ten years of acting classes and hours of working on his characters.
Schwarzenegger is the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver. While his father is known for his bodybuilding, film, and political career, Shriver is a Kennedy. Schwarzenegger shared that he had gone through hundreds of rejected auditions. He shared:
I know there are people who’ll say I only got this role because of who my dad is. They’re not seeing that I’ve had 10 years of acting classes, put on school plays every week, worked on my characters for hours on end or the hundreds of rejected auditions I’ve been on. Of course, it’s frustrating and you can get boxed in and you think at that moment, I wish I didn’t have my last name.
Schwarzenegger shared that he didn’t regret being born into his family, sharing that he was fortunate to have his life and family. Interestingly, his family including Arnold Schwarzenegger and brother-in-law Chris Pratt has seen his performance in The White Lotus.
