Daredevil: Born Again Episode 5 Has a Direct Link to Kamala Khan – What Is Next for Ms. Marvel in the MCU?

Episode 5 of Daredevil: Born Again dropped a hint at another Marvel character and this time it is Ms. Marvel. But what is the young MCU hero doing here? In episode 5, we can see Matt Murdock in a bank asking for a loan to open his law firm.

In the bank, he comes across a familiar face, Yusuf Khan, the father of Ms. Marvel, who was introduced in the Marvel series Ms. Marvel. His latest appearance teased the future of the character in the Marvel universe.

In episode 5 of Daredevil: Born Again, we can see a bank manager portrayed by the actor Mohan Kapoor, who was previously cast as Kamala Khan’s father in the Ms. Marvel series.

Though no name has been mentioned in this series, the casting choice showcases a deliberate link between Daredevil: Born Again and Ms. Marvel. This subtle crossover is no coincidence but a hint at the entry of another MCU hero in Daredevil: Born Again.

In the episode, Yusuf Khan tells Murdock that it can be difficult for Murdock to get a loan for his law firm because of the type of cases he takes. However, they bond over a casual conversation.

In the middle of the conversation, Khan shares, “My daughter, Kamala, she’s in California, visiting some friends there…” Their conversation suggests that Kamala Khan might be operating beyond her familiar region of Jersey City, hinting at Ms. Marvel’s involvement with other heroes of the MCU (via TV Line).

What is Ms. Marvel doing in California?

If you are well aware of the history of the MCU, you should know that Kamala Khan’s presence in California is quite interesting. In the 2022 Marvel series, Khan visited another superhero, Kate Bishop, telling her that she would visit California to search for Ant-Man’s daughter. This question is linked to the reference to her being in California in the Daredevil: Born Again episode 5.

Ant-Man’s location in San Francisco teases Khan’s quest for Cassie Lang to build the team of Young Avengers. Though Marvel has not decided whether the team of Young Avengers will get their own TV show or will be featured in the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday (via Superhero Hype).

After Khan’s reference in Daredevil: Born Again, the question of Young Avengers’ next recruits brings the topic of Angela del Toro, the possible successor of Hector Ayala, aka the White Tiger.

Angela del Toro could be one of the recruits since Murdock has a direct connection to her after Hector Ayala died in episode 3. The subtle hint at the existence of Ms. Marvel suggests the intricate storyline of the MCU, combining characters and narratives in this interconnected universe.

Daredevil: Born Again is streaming on Disney+.
