M&S launches delicious Easter version of its viral cookies & they’re crammed full of mini speckled eggs

M&S HAVE launched a new Easter take on their viral bakery cookies – cramming them full of delicious chocolate buttons and mini speckled eggs.

The cookies are well-loved by customers year-round, for their buttery, sweet flavour and generous chunks of milk chocolate.

Now, they’ve been given a crunchy upgrade, as the retailer has revealed their brand new Speckled Egg Cookies.

Each 350g bag contains five delicious cookies, and costs £2.85.

M&S say: “Get into the Easter spirit with our Speckled Egg Cookies, made with a combination of milk chocolate and white chocolate buttons along with mini chocolate eggs.”

They shared a teaser of the product to TikTok, from their Bidston branch account, @mands.bidston, before today’s launch.

The clip was captioned: “Speckled Egg cookies launching tomorrow! March 26th.”

The video showed a packet of their normal milk chocolate cookies sat next to a packet of their milk chocolate speckled eggs.

Dramatically pulling the goodies apart, they revealed the new yummy Easter treat.

The clip has so far racked up over 665,000 views, with customers gushing over the new product in the comment section.

One user wrote: “Lord, save my calorie deficit.”

While a second commented: “My summer bod is in trouble.”

A third chimed in: “Girl, I have a wedding, my body cannot.”

And a fourth wrote “I actually screamed when I saw this.”

This isn’t the first time M&S have knocked it out of the park with a seasonal twist on their classic cookies.

Last November, shoppers were rushing to stores to buy the ‘dangerously good’ festive variation.

The retailer launched a Christmas-themed version, Gingerbread and White Chocolate, which quickly went viral online.

Shoppers couldn’t get enough of the treat, even begging M&S to keep them in branches all-year-round.

But while customers praised the taste as “amazing”, they were unhappy that the treats now come wrapped in plastic rather than paper packaging.

The film bags can only be recycled by taking them to supermarkets, meaning they are less likely to be reused compared to the old paper wrappers.

Commenting on Facebook, one fan said: “Why are the bakery cookies now packed in a plastic bag rather than paper?! Backwards move. Not part of Plan A surely?”

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
