Koby is one of the oldest characters in the One Piece anime. From a fateful meeting with Luffy in a barrel, Koby’s life changes after gaining the friendship of the future Pirate King.
Koby changed a lot and gained a lot of fame through his deeds. Even gained the title of ‘Hero’ after helping at the Rocky Port incident, where they managed to defeat Ochoku. He was so famous and known that there was a 500,000,000 berry bounty on his head.
Koby has developed a lot as a character; he has changed a lot both physically and mentally, reinventing himself. His power has also increased manifold, and his attacks, like the Honesty Impact, are deadly to even extremely strong foes. How would Koby fare against another experienced Haki user like Zoro?
Zoro would end the fight before it even begins
Koby has increased his power by a lot, to the extent that it can only be called shocking. There is no doubt that he is extremely dedicated and talented. He even managed to destroy the entire island hand of Avala Pizzaro (who fused with a whole island with the help of his Devil Fruit) using just his Honesty Impact.
But is it enough to face off against Zoro? Zoro is definitely on the Top 3 list of the strongest Straw Hats and he ain’t number 3; his mastery of swordsmanship and Haki is unquestionable. Zoro’s dedication to improvement and getting stronger is unmatched.
There is a reason that he can aim for the title of the ‘Strongest Swordsman’, there are few that can rival Zoro in a one-on-one battle. Especially those who do not have a Devil Fruit will find it extremely hard to counter the unique triple-wielding style and Zoro’s close combat mastery.
If Koby and Zoro were to fight, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Koby was knocked out as soon as the battle began. Koby’s speed and attack power have seen a marked increase, but Zoro has more agility, skill, endurance, and battle experience, and not just by a bit.
Koby will have an important role, but not as Zoro’s rival
Koby has made insane progress, considering that he is close to reaching the strength that took Luffy and the Straw Hats a lot of trouble and ordeals to obtain. It might feel like Koby is scaling too quickly and could reach the Straw Hats, but that is not going to happen.
Characters like Zoro are meant for battle. Even if there is a difference in their combat talents, Zoro will always be stronger and superior to Koby. The cabin boy might have grown strong enough to clash with Blackbeard’s crew and survive, but there was never a moment in the story where Koby surpassed Zoro and probably never will.

It could take a miracle to see Koby possess the amount of strength to defeat Zoro. Even Sanji has only been able to draw in fights against Zoro, each and every time proving that Zoro never slips up.
Zoro has fought people who outclass Koby in nearly every category. He held his own against Kaido (gaining his respect) and Big Mom’s top men; he even left a permanent scar on Kaido, who was called the Strongest Creature. Koby might be a rising star, but he’s nowhere near that level.
