Although one of them managed to survive the botched theft and fled the scene, the other wasn’t so lucky as he succumbed to the electrocution.

In the more than 1-minute long clip, it showed two witnesses filming the men cutting away at electrical cables belonging to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

As they were doing so, suddenly a loud explosion is heard along with a cloud of sparks and smoke appearing right in front of the two men’s faces before they both slumped to the ground.

Equally shocked by what they saw, the witnesses quickly rushed over to the two men to check on them.

Upon reaching the scene, they found the two men lying motionless on the ground next to a drain.

Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said police were alerted of the incident after receiving a call at 6pm.

He added one of the suspects regained consciousness after the electrocution and fled on a motorcycle, while the other was killed.
