Maren Morris announced her new album, Dreamsicle, and teased a single coming later this week.
The Grammy winner, 34, shared the news on Tuesday, March 25, via social media and in her newsletter to fans. “I’m bad at keeping secrets,” she teased in the email. “My fourth studio album, Dreamsicle, takes place in the aftermath of loosening my grip on my personal and professional life. Sweeping through the pits of grief, but never staying too long, and finding the joy in knowing that at my core, I’m still who I am — and that’s pretty f—ing great.”
In her Instagram post, Morris shared the album art, which features a close-up of her face as she holds an orange-colored beverage topped with a lemon wedge. The caption confirmed that Dreamsicle will arrive Friday, May 9, while the “first taste” single “Carry Me Through” drops this Thursday, March 27.
Fans had been speculating about the possibility of new music for a while, given the fact that Morris recently wiped her Instagram account and shared a black-and-white video captioned, “3.25.” In a second post shared Monday, March 24, she wrote, “Tomorrow.”
Morris’ last full-length album, Humble Quest, dropped in 2022. She’s since gone through numerous changes in her personal and professional life. The “My Church” singer split from husband Ryan Hurd in October 2023 after five years of marriage, and the duo finalized their divorce in January of last year. (The former couple share son Hayes, 5.)
Weeks before news of the split broke, Morris made headlines when she released a two-track EP titled The Bridge and hinted at a potential departure from country music. She later clarified her comments, saying it was “hyperbolic” to claim she was leaving the genre entirely.

“I felt like I don’t want to say goodbye, but I really cannot participate in the really toxic arms of this institution anymore,” she explained during an October 2023 episode of The New York Times’ “Popcast” podcast. “I certainly can’t participate in a lot of it. I’m OK kind of just doing my own thing. Come with me if you please; everyone’s welcome.”
Months later, Morris came out as bisexual in an Instagram post celebrating Pride Month. “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+ happy pride ,” she wrote in June 2024, sharing photos from one of her concerts.
Morris released another EP titled Intermission in August 2024, hinting that it would bridge the gap between Humble Quest and whatever came next.
“[Songwriting] was an amazing distraction from the dumpster fire that was my life last fall,” she told Billboard of the EP. “I know that a lot of these songs pulled me through it, and that this is some of my most honest work.”
