Firefighters were called to Cairns Street West after receiving reports of the fire at 6.26pm yesterday evening.
Four appliances were dispatched to the scene along with a height appliance.
Other emergency services scrambled to the area after the alarm was raised.
A home on the second level of a row of homes is believed to have gone up in flames.
A video from the scene shows massive orange and red flames bursting out of the window of the second-floor property.
The huge flames leapt from the window and into the sky as they engulfed the home.
Plumes of thick dark smoke also spilt out the window and roof before billowing into the sky.
Officers locked down the scene and were spotted standing near to the home blocking access to the public.
It is currently unclear if there are any causalities or injuries as a result of the fire.
It is also unclear what caused the huge inferno.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews were deployed to the area.
But they added that they left the scene by around 10pm.
A spokesperson for the SFRS said: “We were called to a fire at a property on Cairns Street West in Kirkcaldy at 6.26pm today.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and a height vehicle to the scene.
“Crews have now left the scene”.
