Alan Ritchson Gets Badly Hurt During Shoot: Backstage Pictures of ‘Runner’ Starring Owen Wilson

Hollywood’s toughest action stars make every stunt and fight look so easy and graceful on screen, but that’s only until the camera stops rolling. Alan Ritchson, known for his performance in Reacher, has given us a raw and unfiltered look at what it’s like to film high-octane scenes.

As of now, he’s filming Runner alongside Owen Wilson, and only a few days into shooting, he looks all bruised and battered. So, let’s dive into the sheer insanity of Ritchson’s commitment and the injuries he gladly endures to have the perfect scene.

Alan Ritchson’s Instagram posts show the brutal reality of filming Runner

If you thought Alan Ritchson’s Reacher injuries looked terrible on screen, his Instagram posts from the sets of Runner truly push the limits. He seems to be documenting his filming journey, and on day 3, the actor appears with a split lip and blood smeared across his face.

He was casually joking about the aftermath of having these injuries. Ritchson first spoke about having a conversation with the director, whom he praised for being a good fighter. Then he began to complain because he couldn’t type with bloodied hands and operate the computer while talking to his kids.

The post had classic Ritchson vibes as it was equal parts badass and self-deprecating. But the real kicker? The next day of the shoot, he gave us another Instagram update, and this time, he had deep scratches on his back. The next slide featured a chiropractor working on him to make some adjustments.

Clearly, he hasn’t relied on stunt doubles and CGI for some gruesome scenes. This is real pain, and his enthusiasm has come with severe consequences, but Ritchson is not one to look back. So, even though his characters on screen walk away unscathed, the actor behind them definitely doesn’t.

Yes, these Runner injuries are rough, but Alan Ritchson’s Reacher season 3 finale story is downright terrifying. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor revealed that he became unconscious while filming a fight scene, and it wasn’t just a quick blackout.

I got picked up and we worked out the camera thing a few times, and he slammed me through the table so hard, I went through it into the seventh circle of hell. And I woke up a day and a half later.

When I came to, I had to tell my kids that I felt great, because they were on set, and I didn’t want them to think that, like, dad died and was going to not be okay.

He admitted that even though the experience was brief, it was one of the worst things that he had gone through in his life. Moreover, Ritchson landed himself in this situation despite warnings from his team, as he insisted on doing the stunt himself.

Alan Ritchson might be one of the most dedicated and fearless stars we have in Hollywood. He treats his near-death experience and bloodied lips with the same intensity, as in, the actor just brushes them off as minor inconveniences.
