While most of us celebrate Hari Raya by enjoying rendang and lemang, one Chinese auntie decided to spread the festive cheer in the most unexpected and heartwarming way.
According to a Facebook post by the popular nasi kandar eatery Nasi Kandar Sulaiman, a Chinese food delivery rider surprised everyone when she walked into the restaurant and asked how many workers were on duty that day.
She suddenly came in and asked how many employees we had. I said around 20. The moment she heard that, she immediately took out 20 packets of duit raya and asked us to hand them out to all the staff.”

Not to pick up, but to give
Despite being a delivery rider herself, the kind auntie insisted on personally handing out 20 duit raya packets to all the Malay staff members at the restaurant as a gesture of goodwill and festive blessings.
I was really touched. Just think about it—she’s just a GrabFood rider, and she’s Chinese too. Yet she was kind and thoughtful enough to do something like this.”
“So touched”
Although the contents of the packets weren’t revealed, netizens were moved by the gesture, praising the auntie for her selflessness and for showing that kindness knows no race or religion.
“What’s inside the packet doesn’t matter — what matters is the intention to give. Auntie is truly amazing.”

“You don’t need to be rich to give… Auntie GrabFood, you’re the best.”

Many were touched by the spirit of unity and harmony the auntie displayed, with some saying this is the kind of Malaysia they want to see more of.
“So touched… May Auntie be blessed with abundance. During this Ramadan month, there have been so many gangster-like behaviours among us Malays who are supposedly very Islamic, but it’s actually Auntie’s courteous and respectful manner that reflects true religious values. Allahu Akbar… love Auntie to the moon.”

“Because we are 1Malaysia — regardless of race, regardless of language, we are all one Malaysian.”

Some also praised the restaurant for often sharing heartwarming stories that showcase unity among Malaysians of different races on their social media.
“This ‘mamu’ shop is great, promoting the spirit of racial unity… you’re the best, mamu!”
