Residents at a flat located at Gat Lebuh Macallum in Penang were left deeply shaken after they bore witness to a man’s body splitting into half after he fell from the 22nd floor.
Photos of the gruesome scene were widely shared on social media, where it showed the aftermath and bystanders trying to take a closer look.

As seen from photos shared widely on social media and subsequently used as part of China Press’ coverage on the tragedy, it showed the man’s body lying across the wall of a link bridge connecting the apartment to a multi-storey carpark.
According to the Chinese daily, he reportedly fell from the stairwell of one of the flat’s blocks and hit the wall of the bridge, where the impact caused his body to split into two.

Family members of the man were also at the scene, with one woman sobbing uncontrollably while a young man tries to console her.

Several firefighters were also dispatched at the scene, where they used a ladder to retrieve the man’s body from the bridge.

The victim was later identified as 27-year-old Xu Yaojun (transliteration), who was later confirmed to be a resident of the flat where his body was found, reported FMT.
No foul play detected
Timur Laut deputy police chief Lee Swee Sake said preliminary investigations found no evidence of foul play in the incident.
He added the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR) and that the man’s body was sent to the Penang Hospital for a post-mortem.
He also called upon the public to stop circulating photos or videos of the incident online.
