There has been an ongoing rumor for decades that the two powerhouses of Hollywood—Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt—don’t get along with each other, since their collaboration in Interview with the Vampire. But during Paramount 2025’s panel, the Top Gun star seemed to share a surprisingly different story.
Instead of giving a hint of hatred or rivalry between them, Tom Cruise seemed to be genuinely excited while talking about Brad Pitt and his upcoming movie F1. In fact, Cruise shared a fun story about racing go-karts together, back in the day, when he and Pitt were working on the 1994 movie.

Despite rumors of a long-standing feud between him and Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise seemed to dismiss them with his kind words for his Hollywood colleague. Due to the lack of collaboration between these two high-profile action stars, since their appearance in Interview with the Vampire, people have assumed that perhaps Pitt and Cruise don’t see eye to eye.
However, during Paramount 2025’s panel (blogged by CinemaBlend) Tom Cruise seemingly obliterated any such gossip. During the discussion, as the subject of Brad Pitt came up, the Mission: Impossible star referred to him as his “friend”. Further, reflecting on Pitt’s upcoming F1 movie, Cruise seemed excited and appeared to hype it.

Being from an action background, Tom Cruise has always championed such high-octane films. However, hyping the release of Brad Pitt’s F1 movie held a different meaning, since the duo have often made headlines for an alleged feud. Meanwhile, Cruise also addressed Pitt’s collaboration with his Top Gun: Maverick buddies Joseph Kosinski and Jerry Bruckheimer.

Additionally, reflecting on the racing scenes from F1, Tom Cruise also shared a BTS story from when he collaborated with Brad Pitt on Interview with the Vampire. Making a startling admission about how Pitt can actually drive quite well, in real life, Cruise mentioned go-karting together, while filming their 1994 movie.
Considering how the majority of the scenes from F1 involve Brad Pitt driving on a track, with adrenaline-charged music of Led Zeppelin playing in the background, Tom Cruise reflected on Pitt’s driving skills. Praising him for being a “hell of a driver”, Cruise implied how F1 is set to be an authentic depiction of Pitt’s driving skills.
It’s great to see Brad driving. He’s very good. He’s a very good driver. Believe me, I’ve raced against him. When we were doing Interview with the Vampire we’d go and race go-karts. We’d literally finish and go drive go-karts all night.
Although it seemed rather unbelievable to know that Tom Cruise has some firsthand knowledge of Brad Pitt’s driving skills, it also proved that the duo were never on bad terms. Perhaps, their lack of collaboration since Interview with the Vampire seems to suggest that no production company could afford the powerhouses together, since the 90s.
F1 is scheduled for 27 June 2025 release.
