It’s been a little over 3 months since Marvel Rivals first debuted as a free-to-play title for both PCs and consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S). The title has since seen a few updates, and in particular, the Season 1 update was most hyped.
The update brought with it the Fantastic Four, along with an assortment of skins and in-game activities. It would appear that Netease Games aims to keep that momentum going, having recently launched a trailer for Season 2.
Season 2 is dubbed the ‘Hellfire Gala’, and brings with it new characters, maps, and game modes – all of which should make for quite the exciting time. A breakdown of the maps (among other additions) can be found detailed below.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 Hellfire Gala launches on April 11, 2025
As detailed within the rather intensive trailer for Marvel Rivals Season 2, players will be transported to the mutant homeworld of Krakoa for this particular season. The trailer was also quite exquisite, detailing Emma Frost inviting over the Marvel Rivals team to Krakoa.
As the celebrations begin, a mysterious portal opens up, revealing none other than Ultron, who has now arrived to lay waste to the region. As Ultron and his minions descend, the team prepares for battle, as the camera closes.
This all but confirms multiple leaks released prior – which detailed Emma Frost and Ultron as playable characters – both of whom were curiously present within the trailer.
As a refresher, keep in mind that Emma Frost is expected to be a Vanguard, while Ultron is planned to be a Strategist. Interestingly, this would make Ultron the first-ever strategist capable of flight, which should make for some interesting gameplay interactions.
As far as the entire Season 2 event goes, this should be quite special. This would also be our first look at the mutant homeworld, which is expected to be the new, playable map for Season 2. The Hellfire Gala should house some extraordinary talents, people, and dresses – which means ample opportunities to release newer skins (many of which were teased in the trailer).
The reveal didn’t exactly have a lot of information to go along with it, which is quite unfortunate. This also means that most of the information presented here is based on leaks and educated guesses – so be wary of changes in the final, retail version of the game’s code.
What can players expect from Marvel Rivals Season 2, Hellfire Gala?
Hellfire Gala brings with it a multitude of skins, a new map based on Krakoa, and a few new characters added in for good measure. The expected heroes seem to be Emma Frost and Ultron, who have been discussed earlier.
Other than this, there should be a series of in-game events of varying quality and quantities. Marvel Rivals Season 2 launches on April 11, 2025 for all eligible platforms. This free update is expected to be much smaller in scope though – with Netease Games preparing for a mid-season update sometime in May.
