What was supposed to be a fun outing for a group of foreign students in Port Dickson went pear-shaped after one of them somehow found a way to drive their rented car right into the sea.
Photos and a video of the mishap has since gone viral online, with netizens poking fun over how the SUV had doubled itself as a vehicle for both land and water.
Proton X70 lands itself inside sea at Port Dickson
In a clip shared by a Facebook page, it showed curious bystanders taking photos of a white Proton X70 which was partially submerged inside the sea.

A photo uploaded by another Facebook page showed a young man sitting along the shore not far from the submerged vehicle with his head slightly lowered and a look of resignation on his face, as if trying to figure out how things ended up the way it did.

Was driven by group of foreign students
Details of the mishap were later revealed by Acting Port Dickson district police chief Deputy Superintendent Ruslan Mat Kib, who said the incident took place at Pantai Cahaya, Batu 4, yesterday (Apr 3).
He added police were alerted at around 10.30am when they received a photo of the accident on Facebook, reported NST.
“The report included a picture showing a Proton car near the water’s edge at Pantai Cahaya in Port Dickson. A Special Task Force was dispatched to the location and discovered that the car had already been pulled to the shore.

“We also spoke to the Proton X70’s owner, a 51-year-old man from Seremban, who confirmed it was rented out to a group of foreign students,” he said.
China Press reported that the car was rented by a total of seven Sudanese students who were studying at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).
Ruslan said the students had taken the car to go sightseeing during the Raya holidays and drove it to the beach to find a BBQ spot by the seaside at 6am.
However, it got stuck in the sand and was believed to have veered off course before plunging almost one metre deep into the sea.
