Kayla Nicole’s experience dating Travis Kelce has altered the way she moves in relationships.
“I am like John Cena now with men,” Nicole, 33, shared on the Thursday, April 3, episode of Dear Media’s “The Pre-Game With Kayla Nicole” podcast. “You don’t see me. You don’t see me with a man, and you will never see me with a man until I’m married with kids. Scout’s honor.”
While the Special Forces alum acknowledged that some men may take it as her “being sneaky,” she sees the game plan in a whole different way.
“I’m protecting me and I’m protecting you,” she shared. “I don’t think I ever want to publicly date another man until I am absolutely sure that they are my long-term person just because I want to protect the things that mean the most to me.”

Although Nicole didn’t say Kelce’s name in the podcast episode, the exes dated on and off for five years before calling it quits in 2022. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, has since moved on with Taylor Swift.
When Nicole compared herself to Cena, 47, some fans may have recalled the actor and WWE champion’s highly publicized breakup with Nikki Garcia in July 2018 after six years together.
In October 2020, he then surprised followers when he married Shay Shariatzadeh at an attorney’s office in Tampa, Florida. They later hosted a second wedding celebration in Canada in July 2022.
“Sometimes, when you’re a little too open [or] you’re a little too transparent, you open yourself up to a world of opinion, a world of entitlement,” Nicole explained. “People want answers, people think that you owe them an explanation about every single thing in your relationship, every up and down and happy or sad moment. I just want to be able to love without the pressure.”
So far, her game plan appears to be a winning strategy.
While she’s not ready to share if she’s dating someone special, Nicole joked that she’s “out here hiding, dating and hiding.”

“I’m the queen of a private room and a back room and a corner closet, and I have no shame in it,” she said. “And honestly, to each his own. But for me, I feel like it’s working right now. And if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
During a listener Q&A, Nicole was also asked if she regretted going to the Super Bowl in February — where Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. The quick answer was absolutely not.
“I didn’t think twice about it,” she said. “The biggest day in sports? The biggest game of all the games? … I want to go to every game.”
