We’ve never been coy about our favorite part of shopping at Costco — it’s the bakery section, hands-down. Costco’s best bakery items are usually sweet treats, from their beloved Carrot Bar Cake to their seasonal Gooey Cinnamon Rolls. But Costco’s latest bakery offering is decidedly savory, and it’s so surprising, some social media users found themselves asking if it was an April Fool’s joke. Thankfully, there’s no joking about something so seriously delicious. The new Costco bakery item in question? Garlic Parmesan Butter rolls.
Social media user CostcoHotFinds shared on TikTok and Instagram that Costco is now selling this savory baked good. The Garlic Parmesan Buttered Rolls feature fluffy bread rolls topped with a thick layer of seasoned buttery garlic and parmesan spread. They come in a container of 12 rolls for $7.99, and after being heated up in the oven at home, CostcoHotFinds reports that Costco’s savory rolls are “pillowy soft, doughy, buttery, and insanely delicious.”
The rolls are a super-easy side dish for upcoming Easter celebrations, but they’d be just as delicious served up next to a Costco rotisserie chicken or a simple weeknight meal of spaghetti with jarred sauce and frozen meatballs. Commenters on TikTok had a few suggestions too — once they were assured that these savory rolls are not, in fact, and April Fool’s joke, but a real addition to the bakery.
“PLEASE DONT BE A PRANK I BEG,” ejthecupcakecatcher posted on Instagram. Commenter phrolicking_phuong chimed in, “it’s real. Saw it with my own damn eyes yesterday and backed away slowly like it was gonna jump in my arms.” And to gracefullynatalie, who posted, “I hope this isn’t an April fools joke,” CostcoHotFinds replied. “I would never do that to you.” Phew!
In that case, we’ll definitely be picking up a dozen of Costco’s garlic butter parmesan rolls the next time we’re at the store…and if we add marinara, pepperoni, and mozzarella like some commenters suggested, this side dish is suddenly an easy semi-homemade dinner.
