The Beginning After the End is a series that is highly acclaimed for its unique world-building, attention to detail, and careful character development. These are all qualities that are not often seen in anime adaptations.
The Beginning After the End‘s anime should have capitalized on this fact and focused on these unique aspects of the series. Instead, it ended up focusing on aspects like power and progression, making it feel like every other generic isekai story out there.

It majorly seems to imitate series like Mushoku Tensei, making it harder for the fans to give it any credit, or find reasons for the new anime enthusiasts to stick to it.
Why the introduction was a massive problem
The beginning parts of The Beginning After the End have always been heavily inspired and standard. This makes them somewhat weak in comparison to the plot progression that happens afterward.
But there is one thing the anime seems to have missed out on. The manhwa is indeed extremely popular, but instead of sticking to the manhwa, they could have taken creative liberties to change things up and magnify the unique details that TBATE is famous for.

There has been a long wait for the anime adaptation of The Beginning After the End, and the fans will be extremely disappointed when they find out that the animation is weak and that even the narrative direction seems generic.
After the initial chapters, The Beginning After the End changes course and heads off in a direction of self-reflection, growth, and forming bonds. The evolution of the conqueror, King Grey, into a wiser, better, more caring person is a sight to see.
Taking creative liberties could have solved the problem
All of these could have been hinted at, or at least the relationship between Arthur Leywin and his parents could have been emphasized, instead of just skipping to the ‘good parts’ with him using magic and blowing up their house.

The anime could have had the rare opportunity to improve upon the source material by changing its introduction. But the first episode does not inspire any confidence, even among the loyal fans and the veterans who have read the novel and the manhwa.

To see The Beginning After the End go downhill this way is shocking, it makes one wonder what TurtleMe had planned since he knew this is what the adaptation turned out to be.
The focus of TBATE anime should be to establish itself as something special, to stand out from the dime-a-dozen generic reincarnation isekais. The premise and world-building, with a slow pacing, can help do this.
The anime might have disappointed a lot with its first episode, but maybe not all hope is lost. It could be that Studio A-Cat is rushing through the weaker beginning chapters and will give us a better-quality adaptation moving forward.
It doesn’t seem like much, but the fans can only hope that one of their favorite titles doesn’t get a bad reputation because of the anime.
