A weather phenomenon will see temperatures soar[/caption]
The daytime is getting longer and the temperatures are on the rise as the country emerges from a grim winter.
But weather expert Sean Batty revealed the country could see the mercury soar to a sizzling 30C.
The STV presenter said rising temperatures in recent years make it all the more likely that the heatwave could arrive in April.
He said: “Before the 1980s, no location in Scotland had ever exceeded 24C in April.
“However, since then, several places have surpassed that figure, especially in years like 1984, 1993, 2003, and 2019.
“While it may not happen immediately, it’s only a matter of time before 30C is recorded in April.
“Since 1960, the UK’s climate has warmed by just under 1C on average, making higher temperatures more likely than they were several decades ago.
“This shift means the 30C mark in April is becoming more achievable.”
And he revealed a rare weather phenomenon will cause some parts of Scotland to become the go-to spots.
Scots in the north will experience what is known as a Foehn effect.
The phenomenon is where air warms up and dries as it passes over mountains.
Sean Batty predicts this could see temperatures hit the high 20s.
And he revealed which areas will feel the most heat.
He predicted some parts of Moray and the northern Highlands will see the warmest conditions.
