AN Emmerdale character’s exit has been in the works for some time, but now fans will learn of their fate.

Emmerdale fans will tonight learn exactly how Ella will leave the show after being framed for drugging Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), the new girlfriend of her former partner, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
Ella had tried to tell Liam, that Chas might be misusing pills and had an addiction to painkillers.
A string of unfortunate events has left Ella homeless but she returns to the village and to try to prove her innocence.
But in attempt to save herself, Ella will end up getting blamed wrongly for attacking Liam and hurled back to jail.
When Ella returns to the Dales she overhears Chas and Liam wrongly blaming her for throwing a brick through the pub window.
Next, Ella is busted by Mandy (Lisa Riley) in the Tenants House kitchen, where she lives with other characters, and tried to defend herself by saying she just wants to talk to Liam.
Things take a turn when Ella spots a knife and turns it on Mandy, forcing her to call Liam back to the house.
She pleaded with Liam to believe that she did not drug Chas, and when he leads her to believe they might have a chance of getting back together, if she actually confessed to it.
But when she realised Liam had manipulated her and the police were on the way, Ella made a dash into the woods to try and escape.
As Liam followed, they ended up in a scuffle where Ella pushed him and he fell back, hitting his head on a rock.
This was the same way that Ella had killed her friend Joanne, so she hesitated over his body and began sobbing.
Liam had not died, and when he awoke told Ella that he needed to take accountability for her actions.
As they talked, the police turned up and dragged Ella to jail.
The Sun was the first to reveal that Paula Lane would be exiting the soap after her stint as Ella fell rather flat with very little fanfare.
Ella’s dark storylines have included murder and being locked up for assault.
Paula first appeared to confirm she had quit the show when she updated her professional Spotlight account to confirm she would cease filming on the soap opera in February 2025 after 16 months in the role.
Emmerdale continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
