Jujutsu Kaisen Has Copied This Sports Anime So Obviously That You’d Forget Hunter x Hunter and Bleach

No matter what anyone says, Jujutsu Kaisen single-handedly modernized the Shonen archetype in anime because of just how cool it looks. The character designs by Gege Akutami were already a masterclass in the manga, and when combined with Studio MAPPA’s insane animation, it surpassed expectations.

However, no good thing goes uncriticized, it’s a curse itself. It doesn’t matter if it’s anime or not; if something becomes highly popular, people will surely point out its flaws. And, frankly, Jujutsu Kaisen does have flaws, and there’s no hiding it. In fact, people often call it an inferior copy of Hunter x Hunter or Bleach. But it seems that’s not the case here.

Jujutsu Kaisen was never a copy of Hunter x Hunter or Bleach. Instead, it copied a different series all along, one that you’d never guess unless you’re told. It’s Haikyuu!! we are talking about! And here’s all you need to know why (or maybe you don’t).

No way Fushiguro is a one-on-one copy of Kageyama from Haikyuu!

Stay with us right now, but how can one not notice the striking similarities between Kageyama from Haikyuu and Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen? It’s almost as if they’re mirror images of each other. While it’s possible that the author didn’t intentionally create these parallels, it’s hard to ignore the eerie similarities between these two characters.

Let’s break it down. Both Kageyama and Fushiguro are blue-eyed, second-male lead characters who have been shipped with the main character by fans. Both main characters of the two series, Hinata and Yuji, have bright hair and fun personalities. What’s more, both Kageyama and Fushiguro are incredibly talented in their respective fields, show little to no emotions, and are 15 years old at the start of their anime series! Hold on, there’s more.

But here’s where things get really suspicious. Both Kageyama and Fushiguro have older sisters, and they even share the same birthday – December 22nd! It’s a pretty unusual coincidence, to say the least. Whether or not this was intentional on the part of the author, it’s undeniable that these similarities are too much to ignore.

It’s nearly impossible to defend Jujutsu Kaisen at this point

The more you try to defend Jujutsu Kaisen, the more you’ll find yourself at the losing end. While at first, the criticisms were only directed towards a few minor plot points maybe, now even individual characters are being compared to other anime.

Despite having multiple aspects where it shines, people just won’t stop calling Jujutsu Kaisen a copycat. First, it was compared to Bleach because of its stylish characters. Then, it was likened to Hunter x Hunter due to similar character development, and now even a sports anime, Haikyuu!!

This comparison might be the most harmless of the bunch, but it’s still hard to ignore. The similarities between Kageyama and Fushiguro are undeniable, and it’s natural for fans to wonder if Jujutsu Kaisen borrowed a bit too much inspiration from other popular series.

Both Jujutsu Kaisen and Haikyuu are available to watch on Crunchyroll.
