CinemaCon seems to be a great space for Spider-Man actors, as after Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 update, Andrew Garfield’s next After the Hunt, got a trailer and a release date. Fans got to see the first glimpse of Garfield in Luca Guadagnino’s thriller drama, which also features Julia Roberts and Ayo Edebiri in the leads.
The trailer shown at CinemaCon revealed that Garfield would be the antagonist of the film, which is set in the world of academia and features The Amazing Spider-Man star as a teacher embroiled in a scandal. Edebiri and Roberts are directly involved in this as the film explores the dark secrets of the academic space.
Andrew Garfield turns heel in After The Hunt, which also stars Ayo Edebiri and Julia Roberts

Andrew Garfield has either been known for his boyish charm and energetic performance as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise or for his emotionally intelligent self, with his profound statements about grief during interviews going viral. The actor has always been associated with a hint of positivity, which might change with his upcoming film.
Luca Guadagnino’s After The Hunt sees Garfield play a professor who gets involved in a s*xual harassment scandal at his workplace when a student/teacher’s assistant, played by Ayo Edebiri, makes allegations against him. The film’s first official trailer was played at this year’s CinemaCon, which is taking place in Las Vegas.

Julia Roberts reportedly plays another professor at the college who is a friend of Garfield’s and to whom Adebri makes the allegation. The college gets to know about the situation, and chaos ensues, with many examining the racial component in the case.
The trailer reportedly went into an intense mode, ending with a confrontation between Julia Roberts and Ayo Edebiri. Fans were ecstatic to see the Spider-Man actor have a villainous role with many hoping it would go down as one of his best performances.
Luca Guadagnino last helmed Queer, starring Daniel Craig. His peformance was conisedered to be his best one yet in Queer. Hopefully, with Guadagnino, Garfield, too gets to hone his acting muscles.
Luca Guadagnino gave an update on his adaptation of American Psycho

While Andrew Garfield goes full dark mode in After the Hunt, filmmaker Luca Guadagnino is not really done with the darkness. The filmmaker, who was attached to a Sgt. Rock film from DC Studios is also working on a remake of American Psycho. The Christian Bale-starrer has a cult following and is based on a book by Bret Easton Ellis.
Gudagnino spoke on the stage at CinemaCon and mentioned that Easton Ellis’ novel was extremely important in his artistic journey and that the film was at a good stage in development. He said (via THR),
We are really working hard to bring to the screen a new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho, a book that I deeply love that is something that influenced me so much. [Screenwriter Scott Z. Burns] He’s doing an incredible job. The script is coming out very handsomely.
The Challengers filmmaker also mentioned that he had been talking to some potential leads and hoped to present debut footage of the film at CinemaCon next year.
