I’ve lost 3 stone in 8 months on fat jabs – there’s a common error new starters are making & it means nasty side effects

A WOMAN who has lost over three stone in eight months on Mounjaro has revealed there’s an epic mistake people are making before starting on the weight loss drug.

Lois explained that often, those about to start their GLP-1 journey opt for a final day “binge” before their first injection.

She also advised drinking at least two litres of water a day, and suggested reading the whole instruction leaflet that comes with the injections[/caption]

However, in a video on her TikTok page, the mum-of-two said it’s one of the worst things you can do – and it could lead to some “nasty” side effects.

“You’re going to have the urge to want to binge out, have a big massive greasy takeaway the day before or the day of taking your first jab,” she said.

“Do not do this.”

Insisting the combination of Mounjaro and greasy food is “not good”, Lois continued: “Once that Mounjaro is in your system, the food that you have eaten that day or even the night before is also still in your system.

“And let me tell you now it can give you some nasty side effects.

Sickness, just feeling disgusting, bad tummy issues, bad toilet issues.

“You’re going to get that if your body does not agree with greasy food and Mounjaro like myself.”

Lois added that her inbox has been full of people asking her for advice, after taking it for five days and being left “violently sick”.

“The first thing I ask them is ‘What did you eat?’” she said.

“Now some people will not agree with the medication. just like any medication it probably just doesn’t agree with your body.

“But majority of the time it’s because of what they’ve eaten.”

She then went on to share her other tips, including drinking two litres of water a day and sticking to a calorie deficit with meal plans.

And she recommended looking at social media pages too – for motivation and inspiration for food ideas.

“Lastly but probably the most important one, read the leaflet your Mounjaro comes with, because it is going to tell you everything you need to know,” Lois continued.

“A lot of people don’t even go and read the booklet that it comes with.

“I was one of them, I didn’t read it until the second pen.

What to do if you lose too much weight too quickly whilst on Mounjaro

IF you’re losing too much weight too quickly while on Mounjaro, it’s important to take action to avoid potential health risks like muscle loss, malnutrition, dehydration, and fatigue. Here’s what you can do:

Evaluate Your Caloric Intake

Mounjaro reduces appetite, which can make it easy to eat too little. If you’re losing weight too fast (more than two to three lbs per week after the initial adjustment period), try:

  • Tracking your food intake to ensure you’re eating enough calories (apps like MyFitnessPal can help).
  • Increasing protein intake to preserve muscle mass (aim for 0.6–1g per pound of body weight).
  • Adding healthy fats and complex carbs (e.g., avocados, nuts, whole grains) for balanced energy.

Adjust Your Dosage (With Doctor’s Approval)

If your weight loss is too rapid or causing side effects, your doctor may:

  • Pause dose increases or lower your dosage.
  • Adjust your treatment plan to stabilise your weight loss.

Strength Training & Exercise

To prevent muscle loss:

  • Incorporate resistance training at least two to three times per week.
  • Stay active with low-impact exercises like walking or yoga.

Hydrate & Manage Electrolytes

  • Drink enough water (Mounjaro can reduce thirst).
  • Electrolytes matter – Consider adding magnesium, sodium, and potassium if you feel weak or fatigued.

Monitor for Malnutrition & Deficiencies

Rapid weight loss can cause vitamin/mineral deficiencies (especially B12, iron, and electrolytes). If you experience:

  • Fatigue, hair loss, or dizziness, ask your doctor about supplements.

Consider Further Medical Guidance

If your weight loss is excessive or causing health concerns, speak with your healthcare provider.

They might adjust your dosage, diet, or exercise plan to help stabilise your weight loss.

“Because it’s going to tell you things in there that you should look out for, that are more of the dangerous side effects.

“Which let’s all be real, it’s medication, medication can have side effects. so just prepare yourself for that.”

Lois’ video was quickly picked up by other Mounjaro users, with one writing: “Currently watching this in the bathroom fighting for my LIFE!”

“I did this and day 2 and night was hell,” another admitted about a pre-starting binge.

“I was throwing up like no other. “

“I’m on day three and constipated to hell!!” a third added.

“Drinking 3ltr of water and craving sugary things! However I’m absolutely frozen all the time!”

“Have a Dulcolax if it gets really bad, I’m also always cold,” Lois replied.
