Met Eireann pinpoint where rain falls TODAY as ‘perfect week’ breaks before 21C ‘warmer weather to come’ sunshine blast

MET Eireann has warned rain is set to fall later today as cloudier conditions take over after days of a “perfect week”.

The weather bosses predict showers will last through this evening and into tomorrow morning, but clearer spells will return for a 21C weekend.

Today will start off “largely dry and sunny” but feeling a little cooler as a freshening easterly wind brings some breezier conditions.

Despite chilly winds highs today will still sit between 12C to 19C.

However, cloud will start developing in the afternoon in Munster and Leinster.

But Meteorologist Cathal Nolan of Ireland’s Weather Channel described the showery conditions as a small “blip”.

He said: “The only blip on our otherwise perfect week will come on Thursday evening and into the early hours of Friday when a few scattered showers push in from the southeast before clearing away for Friday itself and even warmer air pushing northwestwards from the near continent. Excellent conditions overall.”

And Met Eireann said, as cloud forms in Munster and Leinster, it will bring showers to that area.

And as the evening progresses, showers will extend further north but most places will see less than 5mm.

These “scattered outbreaks of showery rain” will continue into tonight across the country, although Ulster will experience some clearer spells.

But Cathal Nolan did add: “The good news is today is no exception and widespread sunshine is again forecast across the country.

“Highest temperatures up to 18C or 19C, with warmer weather still to come on Friday and Saturday with highs up to 21C possible.”

Tonight will see moderate to fresh easterly winds blowing overnight with temperatures warmer than previous nights at between 6C and 10C.

Rain will not clear fully before Friday morning leaving some “residual” showery rain earlier on.

Later into Friday more summery conditions will return with drier and sunnier weather developing for the afternoon.

And temperatures will climb as far as 19C, warmest in the west during the day tomorrow with “long spells of sunshine”.

On Friday night Met Eireann warn it will be “rather cold” with temperatures as low as 2C in parts of Ulster.

Aside from the colder turn the forecast remains dry and clear.

WEEKEND FORECAST

“Looking further ahead to the weekend, temperatures falling back a little with some cold and clear nights.

“However, it will be dry and sunny, very pleasant by day and no more than moderate easterly winds.”

Saturday temperatures look set to sit between 11C to 17C but temperatures will drop to 1C overnight.

They will climb again on Sunday with daytime temperatures back up to 17C.

And the good weather is set to continue as temperatures head up even further hitting 19C on Monday.

The weather bosses said: “Staying dry and settled into next week too with mild days, especially further west.”
