Lauren Graham Reveals She Dated Some of Lorelai Gilmore’s Exes IRL

It turns out Lauren Graham and Lorelai Gilmore had similar taste in men.

“You previously said you did not date Scott Patterson, obviously, who plays Luke in the show, but you did date a couple of the other guys on the set,” podcast host Alex Cooper said to Graham, 58, during the “Call Her Daddy” episode, released on Wednesday, April 2. “I know you’re not going to tell me, but can I ask though, was it anyone that Lorelai ever dated?”

Graham responded “yes” with no hesitation.

“Dating is [a] real big word for some of the experiences,” the actress joked. “But, you know, you’re there 14,15 hours, who else are you going to meet?”

Graham played Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls for all seven seasons from 2001 to 2007. She reprised the role for the 2016 Netflix miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

While Lorelai ended up with Patterson’s Luke, she kissed a few frogs along the way.

Throughout the series, the character dated Jason “Digger” Stiles (Chris Eigeman), Christopher Hayden (David Sutcliffe), Peyton Sanders (Jon Hamm) and Max Medina (Scott Cohen). Graham stayed tight-lipped about which she had a fling with in real life.

During Wednesday’s “Call Her Daddy” interview, Graham wasn’t as shy when it came to sharing her details about onscreen daughter Rory Gilmore’s (Alexis Bledel) various romances throughout the show.

“Which of Rory’s boyfriends do you think was the best fit for her in the long run?” Cooper wondered, referring to Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki), Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) and Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry).

Graham did not give a definitive answer — but offered an explanation as to why.

‘Gilmore Girls’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

“You know, you can’t get me. I won’t be gotten here or anywhere else,” Graham joked. “I’ll never say. They were all a good fit for her at the time, because they were a learning experience. … We all learn from, even, the frogs.”

The discussion eventually turned from the cast’s onscreen love interests to Graham’s real-life dating life, and her decision to stay relatively private.

Cooper noted that Graham was criticized for “being single” during the early days of her career.

“[It] always feels weird to be asked, and many times I was lying,” she admitted. “It’s such a strange thing to talk about, which I still mainly don’t talk about, something that you don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Graham added, “I think some people are built for it. Some people don’t find it personally vulnerable. I have to say, it wasn’t my focus at the time so it felt strange like I’m a working person and I’m in a career and, I don’t know, it was odd.”
