Is it possible that we have not seen the last of the White Walkers in the final season of Game of Thrones? We’ve witnessed hundreds of them perish as soon as Arya Stark plunged that knife into the Night King. Westeros was saved from yet another White Walker attack.
We’ve seen through the last bit of that show to the end, and as underwhelming as it was, we’re just happy to know that these icy zombies would not bother our favorite characters anymore, at least in the foreseeable future. But what if they return? What if they seek revenge? What if there was more beyond the Wall?

Game of Thrones theory: White Walkers aren’t dead yet and may return in the future
For a refresher, the Children of the Forest created the White Walkers years ago to defend themselves in a war against the First Men. Unfortunately, things got out of hand when they lost control of them. When the War for the Dawn came, the Children of the Forest allied with the First Men to repel the White Walkers, and Bran the Builder notably built the Wall that we know today to keep the undead at bay.
As mentioned, the Night King and his icy minions have been blasted to pieces in Game of Thrones. While this sounds like good news to the people of Westeros, they know better that magic exists in their surroundings, and this power was the same force that brought these White Walkers to life.

There is no evidence that this magic had been destroyed following the death of the Night King. Its uncontainable energy has proven the extent of its capability—the resurrection of the dead, the gift of special skills to certain people.
If the Children of the Forest were to harness the same magic that brought these villains to life, perhaps as a response to some threat, then there’s always a possibility of another dark second coming.
We’ve also mentioned that the vast land which lies beyond the Wall remains unexplored. There is a chance that not all of them have died during the Battle of Winterfell, especially if other entities similar to them still survive and would be out for revenge at the right time once they have gathered forces.
By this time, the citizens of Westeros may have put this war to the back of their minds, just as they ignored the looming threat of the White Walkers in the beginning. When this happens, we know they will strike again when we least expect them.
The White Walkers’ war in the books remains a mystery

We have yet to witness the White Walkers’ invasion in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, and surely many are hoping for it to be more elaborate and, of course, satisfying in the sense that everything the story has been building up for will come full circle.
As for the author’s upcoming sixth novel, The Winds of Winter, he has revealed that it’s coming pretty well, though he wishes to finish it sooner.
Game of Thrones is currently available to watch on Max.
