Zaya Wade Shows Off Her Retro Street Style in New Campaign

Zaya Wade is becoming a fashion icon in her own right, and with every Instagram post, we are taking notes on what is (or quickly will be) the new trend. The 17-year-old just shared a collection of photos on Instagram, and it’s clear that retro streetwear is making a comeback.

“a very Zaya spring break 🥰,” Zaya captioned the post which was a carousel of film pictures that she had seemingly taken with the Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 camera as a part of a larger campaign.

In most of the shots, Zaya is at a flower market and rocking an oversized, black and white letterman jacket that looks like it’s made of leather. She has paired the retro yet timeless staple with a graphic T-shirt and red sweatpants with white stripes down the sides. She also rocks thick black shades and seems to be journaling in a spiral notebook with the word “thoughts” written on the lined paper cover.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll gladly say it again: Zaya Wade has enviable range when it comes to fashion. The budding model can clearly rock edgy and retro streetwear, but she also made headlines when she made her runway debut in designer looks at Paris Fashion Week (NBD!), and she got lots of love from stepmom Gabrielle Union when she donned a preppy aesthetic for a local outing.

Recently, the teen — who NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade shares with ex Siohvaughn Funches along with sons Zaire and Xavier — looked timeless when she wore a dark shirt and a Miu Miu necklace for her senior portraits.

“senior pics 🖤,” she captioned the carousel of photos. “try not to cry, dad.”

Her teddy bear-type father jumped in the comments of the “stunning” photos. “Just proud that I get to see this day 😍,” he said of the major teenage milestone.

We’re unsurprised to see the proud papa “liked” Zaya’s latest collaboration with Fujifilm, and so did Translatable, the online resource and safe space for LGBTQIA+ youth and their families that the iconic father-daughter duo created.

For a cover story with Seventeen, Zaya responded to the outlet saying she takes up “some very important space in the fashion industry.”

“There are moments where it feels like being on cloud nine,” she said. “The glitz and glamour, I can’t explain it. But while I’m dressed up literally and figuratively, I’m also representing my community and that’s what makes it so much better.”
