SCOTLAND has been missing a star at the very top of the tennis rankings since Andy Murray left the sport.
But one youngster has been tipped as a potential successor to Murray‘s throne.

The ace from Dunblane scooped two Wimbledon titles and the US Open in his career[/caption]
Murray won two Wimbledon titles, the US Open and back-to-back Olympic gold medals in his legendary career.
He did all that whilst competing with arguably the three greatest male players of all time in Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, the Serbian star Murray now coaches.
But with Murray now retired, there are no Scots-born players inside the men‘s top 400.
The youngster being touted as Scotland‘s next great hope in tennis is Caelan McKechnie.
The 14-year-old is the current 14&U Scottish champion in singles and doubles, also winning a singles title at the Play Your Way to Wimbledon tournament last year.
The Aberdonian has also won 60 tournaments in the last three years, including multiple titles on the Junior European Tour.
And now he’s signed a year-long deal to partner with opticians Specsavers to cover costs for his coaching, equipment and travel.
Caelan said: I am absolutely delighted to be partnering with Specsavers and I can’t wait to get to work with them over the next year.
“Their support as a sponsor is vital if I am to take my tennis to the next level.
“Making it to the top is not easy, nor cheap, and every little bit of help along the way is greatly appreciated.”
Specsavers Scottish Divisional Chair Jenny Stephenson added: “We are proud to support Scottish talent and hope our backing can help Caelan reach new heights in the tennis world.
“Having previously worked with other rising talents, we know the importance of investing in young sporting stars to help them achieve their goals.
“We look forward to seeing what the next 12 months bring for Caelan on his journey through the junior ranks.”
