‘Lovely lady’, 60s, dies in horror three-car crash in Waterford as tributes pour for ‘beautiful person taken too soon’

HEARTBREAKING tributes have poured in for a “lovely lady” who was killed in a horror three-car crash in Co Waterford on Mother’s Day.

Viera Augustináková, aged in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the fatal crash on the N25 at Moonameen shortly after 2pm.

The driver and passenger of the second car involved in the crash, a man and woman aged in their 50s, were taken to University Hospital Waterford with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

The female driver, 60s, of the third car was conveyed by air ambulance to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

She is also believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Viera, who is from Slovakia but had been living in Tallow, has been remembered as a “beautiful person” who was “taken too soon”.

A death notice online said: “Deeply regretted by her loving partner Stanislaw Bieniek, mother Maria, brother Jaro, sisters Maja and Jarmila, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours.”

And tributes have been pouring in for the tragic woman as news of her passing continues to devastate both those in the local community and Slovakia.

One mourner told how Viera was a “lovely lady” who was “always a pleasure to meet”.

Another said: “Saddened and shocked to hear this tragic news. She was a beautiful person. May she rest in peace.”

A third described Viera as a “beautiful lady” whilst another mourner said: “Sincere sympathy to Stan and Viera’s friends and family. A very sad time for all.


“Viera was a lovely quiet lady with a beautiful smile. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers at this time.”

Viera will repost at Aidan Walsh and Sons Funeral Home in Tallow on Friday evening from 5pm to 7pm followed by removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

Her funeral mass will take place at 10am on Saturday morning before a private cremation service.

TRAGIC WEEKEND

Tragic Viera was one of four women who were killed on Irish roads over the weekend.

In Cork, 41-year-old mum-of-two Susan O’Sullivan, from Beechwood Park in Mallow and 63-year-old Mary Coughlan from King’s Square in Mitchelstown sadly lost their lives in a crash on Sunday.

The two-car accident happened around 3.45pm on Sunday on the main N72 Mallow to Killarney road near Cork Racetrack.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies have been taken to Cork University Hospital morgue for post mortem examinations.

Ms O’Sullivan was driving the car in which her two children, aged five and eight, survived the crash.

They were taken to Cork University Hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries.

In Kilkenny, Jelena Kuzic sadly passed away in St Luke’s Hospital on Monday, three days after she was struck by a car on the N76 at Westcourt Demesne in Callan on Friday night.

Jelena, who was aged in her 30s and had been living in the area, has been remembered as a “vibrant soul” whose loss has “created a void that cannot be filled” in a tragic tribute from a friend.
