Directed by Ryan Coogler, the upcoming period supernatural horror movie Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Li Jun Li, and others. Jordan, starring in a dual role as twin brothers, returns to his hometown but is faced with a greater evil. Sinners is the fifth collaboration between Coogler and Jordan.

Actress-singer Hailee Steinfeld, who made her on-screen debut almost 15 years ago with True Grit, is now gearing up to play a bold love interest in an upcoming movie, Sinners, opposite Michael B. Jordan. The actors, who recently appeared on First We Feast to promote their movie, shared a goofy moment, which has led to fans pointing out their chemistry.
In her Beau Society Newsletter, Hailee Steinfeld shared that she had no hesitation whatsoever in taking on the role. It should be noted that the actress who has played Kate Bishop in Hawkeye is portraying a character in Sinners that’s very different from what she has played till now. She wrote (via People),
The minute I heard Ryan Coogler, I was in. Then I read his script and was like, ‘Holy s***, this feels like a massive undertaking.’ The story is so complex and layered. I was so fortunate and honored to even be remotely considered.
During her interview with Who What Wear, Hailee Steinfeld was asked about her experience of working with Michael B. Jordan, to which she described that he is so committed to what he does and is good at it.
The actress, who has been garnering attention for her chemistry with Jordan, added she wouldn’t have known his incredible talent of balancing professionalism and fun if they weren’t filming the movie together.
Steinfeld also mentioned that Jordan just makes sure that everyone on set is comfortable and is always the first one to crack a joke. She admits that the Black Panther actor is an incredible castmate to work with, and their appearance on First We Feast shows that the two of them are comfortable with each other. Their beautiful and easy-looking chemistry will be interesting to watch on-screen.

In her Beau Society Newsletter, Hailee Steinfeld mentioned to her fans her much-anticipated role as Mary in Sinners opposite Michael B. Jordan. She described her upcoming project as a departure from her past projects, adding (via People);
This role is far removed from what I’ve done, but that’s part of what drew me to it! I feel like I’m stepping into my own more and more as I get older, and this role mirrors that.
The actress goes on to describe the movie as an amazing cinematic experience, noting that it’s thrilling, sexy, daring, and dangerous with bold representations. When asked if they could watch the movie with their parents, Steinfeld noted that the fans should use their judgment, as the movie is R-rated, which is for strong bloody violence, s*xual content, and language.
In an interview with Who What Wear the young actress shared that she was surprised by how impactful her character’s presence is in the movie. Steinfeld’s character, Mary, is not only the love interest of Jordan’s character, but she is also one of the bloodthirsty vampires he has to fight.
The twist in the story makes her character complex yet very exciting to watch. The role of Mary is very different from what the young actress has played till now. Michael B. Jordan only has praises for his co-star, as he said,
Hailee’s performance in Sinners is very, very, versatile and honestly fun. I think it’s going to make people lean in and get a chance to see her in a way that they haven’t had the opportunity to see her in before. As you know, it’s tough to grow up in this industry where people get a chance to see you every step of the way; they kind of have an idea of who you are and what you can do.
Jordan mentioned that the audience will see the actress in a new light, and he’s excited for the reaction people will give to her performance. He shared that she went deep down to play the character and has managed to portray Mary’s complexity amazingly. He concluded by saying he can’t wait for the world to see the movie and her performance.
Sinners is set to release on April 18, 2025.
