Ever since It Ends with Us came to be transformed from a book into a live-action movie last year, a lot of fire has been surrounding Blake Lively, the film’s lead, for one too many reasons. While the allegations against her are one thing amidst her ongoing lawsuit with Justin Baldoni, she seems to be further drowning in deep waters as controversies enclosing her continue to rise.

For one, quite a few new pieces of evidence and interview excerpts have resurfaced from the past, which is now making everyone question Lively’s stance of being the victim who was s-xually harrassed by Baldoni on the sets of the said film. One of these includes the actress allegedly turning one of her family member’s murder into a joke, which is nothing short of sickening.
Blake Lively allegedly joked about a family member’s murder to promote her film

A lot of her past interviews and comments have resurfaced in the wake of her ongoing legal troubles with her It Ends with Us co-star Justin Baldoni, and quite a few of them are more than enough to land Lively in deeper troubling waters than what she is in now. For one, some of those past remarks have seemingly made it clear that she is even capable of lying through her teeth.
That said, the recent unearthing of her old WIRED Autocomplete Interview with Anna Kendrick while promoting A Simple Favor where they answered the web’s most searched questions is further turning the situation sour for the Gossip Girl actress. In the interview, one of the questions was, “How did Blake Lively get her name?” To this, Blake Lively replied with a straight face:
My grandmother’s brother was named Blake. But he was murdered. So thanks for asking, Google.
In response, Kendrick remarked about The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actress’ response, “She’s so dark.” And that is dark indeed because, soon after this interview aired, the Daily Mail reported on the same, pointing out how they couldn’t confirm the part about Lively’s grandmother’s brother being murdered, and it may have been a ploy to promote her movie.
The story by the Daily Mail clearly mentioned that after considering the actress’ deadpan delivery of her response, ‘it’s not entirely clear if the answer was a serious revelation or a peek at her dark sense of humor.’ And that, in itself is more than enough to emphasize the point that Blake Lively has a really cruel and dark sense of humor, if that response was indeed a joke.
Blake Lively is now under fire for her past comments and bad sense of humor

At the time, Blake Lively‘s comment launched a barrage of speculation among fans who couldn’t figure out if her revelation was real or simply the actress’ way of trying to inject some mystery into her response with reference to the film she was promoting back then, A Simple Favor, which itself encompassed the themes of murder, revenge, and mysterious disappearances.
But now, that very remark is landing the Green Lantern star in really deep waters. For one, as British Jamaican author, socialite, and TV personality Lady Colin Campbell recently took to her X handle @LadyColinCampb to unhesitantly point out, Lively “appears to have one of the sickest senses of humor it is possible to possess” in the light of this very remark.
It has just been brought to my attention that @blakelively appears to have one of the sickest senses of humour it is possible to possess, if what I have been told is true.
Evidently, some time ago, she was asked in an interview how she came to be named Blake. She joked that…

That’s not all, for she continued to say: “If that is indeed the case, this incident alone explains how [Lively] could have felt it was all right to hijack [Justin Baldoni]’s movie, accuse him of harassment when the only person who seems to have been harassed in any way, shape or form, was him, while she was playing persecutor as victim and doing her utmost to ruin his life and that of his [Wayfarer Studios] colleagues and their affiliates.“
In fact, Campbell even went as far as to say that, if the Daily Mail indeed got their facts right about The Age of Adaline actress allegedly joking about a family member’s murder just as a ploy to promote her film, then she was “right up there along with the Marquis de Sade as an embodiment of true heartlessness” and that this explains her conduct, both pre and post-Baldoni.
That said, now even other netizens are jumping up in support of Lady Colin Campbell’s criticism of Blake Lively, as is evident from their reactions in the comment section of her X tweet:
Lady C, you’ve hit the nail on the head with this one! I completely agree, Blake Lively’s alleged joke about being named after a murdered great uncle, if it’s true, is beyond the pale. It’s not just tasteless, it’s a chilling glimpse into a lack of empathy that’s frankly…

I quite concur! Should @blakelively have jested about a slain uncle, as The Mail suggests, it’s utterly ghastly & illuminates her deplorable conduct towards @justinbaldoni. Great post @LadyColinCampb ‼️

Never forget she was asked what movie she “laughed the hardest through” and her response was The Shawshank Redemption… a movie about an innocent man who is accused of a crime he did not commit…

She claimed Cherokee heritage to gain a cosmetics campaign…

She was named after him, but idk if he was murdered. If not, that’s a sick joke!

Wow…..this is sick.

I found the article and it is echoed in other media. It appears she was joking…. She’s a sociopath by many different behaviors she has exhibited- she’s also a malignant narcissist

I too have had a family member brutally murdered, to joke about something like that is deplorable and shows she has no tact at all

With all of this being put out there, it’s unarguable that Blake Lively’s past comment about a family member’s murder has come back to haunt her, with many criticizing her sense of humor as “sick” and “heartless.” As this incident has raised questions about Lively’s behavior and empathy, it remains to be seen how she will respond to the criticism and how it all turns out for her now.
