Sung Jinwoo is the player and has the class Monarch of Shadows. He can summon the shadows of his vanquished foes to serve him and fight on his behalf.
In the anime, after two seasons, the strongest shadow soldier is undoubtedly Beru, the Ant King that Sung Jinwoo defeated on Jeju Island. This is not just because of his combat prowess, which is undoubtedly formidable.

But it is because of a cheat-like ability that the Ant King had, the ability to utilize the special traits of the ones he devours. Beru devours the S Rank healer, Min Byung-Gu, who was a Hunter of the South Korean Association. In doing so, he essentially becomes an S Rank healer himself.
Min Byung Gu’s abilities changed Beru for the better
There are many formidable fighters that serve Sung Jinwoo ever since he obtained the ability to summon shadows. Powerful fighters like Igris the Bloodred and Kargalgan, the High Orc Priest (Tusk), were turned into shadows.
Yet, these units have limited abilities, often being restricted to combat usage. But Beru, although originally a being in the same vein, grew more efficient and useful after he devoured Min Byung-Gu. It was a tragic loss for South Korea to lose an S-Ranker, but it only went on to establish Jinwoo as a one-man army.

Through this tragedy, Jinwoo essentially gained the abilities of Byung-Gu through Beru, which might have been one of the reasons why he released Byung-Gu from being a shadow, other than showing his respect.
Beru has astonishing combat abilities, he was able to destroy the Japanese Hunters in seconds, not even giving them space to breathe, and he only gets stronger with each enemy he defeats. This is why Beru is currently the most efficient, useful, and strongest shadow under Jinwoo’s command.
Through his predation skill, Beru (who was already stronger than the rest of Jinwoo’s shadows) inherited healing abilities that elevated him beyond most S Rank Hunters in the world.
Beru is Sung Jinwoo’s strongest shadow
Which makes sense since even teams of S Rankers could not eradicate the problem that was Jeju Island. Beru is near indestructible and can regenerate himself to keep fighting. Considering the immortal nature of the Shadows, this makes him even more fearsome.

When Beru devoured Byung Gu, he inherited the S-rank healing skill, allowing him to mend wounds that would be fatal to any other shadow. Unlike standard regeneration, this ability enabled Beru to recover instantly in battle, making him a near-unstoppable force.
This lets Sung Jinwoo ascend from the combat category of Hunters to an all-rounder category. The fearsome aspect of Jinwoo was displayed when he took on Byung-Gu and Beru as his shadows, showing the world that he is by himself an entire arsenal.
Beru’s dominance isn’t just about raw power; it is about his versatility. In Solo Leveling, healing is an ability few can wield, considering even a B-Rank Hunter like Joohee was considered more valuable than A-Rankers because of her healing abilities.
A soldier as aggressive and deadly as Beru makes him the perfect killing machine with added quasi-invincibility because of his healing abilities, which makes him the strongest shadow soldier yet.
