CONNACHT hope skipper Cian Prendergast will be available for a Challenge Cup quarter-final the weekend after next if they overcome Cardiff in a last-16 tie on Saturday.
Victory over the Welshmen — a side they have beaten twice this year — at Dexcom Stadium will set up a quarter-final clash against Racing 92 or Perpignan in Galway.
Prendergast, 25, was taken to hospital on Saturday after being carried off on a stretcher at MacHale Park following a head collision which resulted in a red card for Munster centre Alex Nankivell.
Cullie Tucker, who has taken charge of Connacht with head coach Pete Wilkins on sick leave, said: “He was in first thing Monday morning.
“He’s been around the squad helping us prep.
“Cian’s doing very well and he’s in good spirits.
“We’re very pleased to say he’s in a good place and all scans checked out clear.
“He’s well on the road to recovery.”
Winger Chay Williams, who went off with a head knock after six minutes, is available this weekend while winger Shayne Bolton (foot) and scrum-half Ben Murphy (finger) are also back in contention.
