There is no end to legendary pirates in One Piece, but one character in particular has been kept a mystery. Rocks D. Xebec is in the limelight for being the captain of Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido, but also a member of the D.
The Elbaph Arc has been full of surprises, especially the characterization of Loki and the arrival of the God’s Knights. The latest chapter of One Piece reveals that the Accursed Prince wanted to join the Rocks Pirates, but Xebec rejected him and gave him a devastating defeat when challenged to a fight.

Loki’s backstory with Rocks D. Xebec mirrors Luffy’s with Shanks. The flashback is also the first time we will witness Xebec fighting someone. Fans have been waiting for this since he was mentioned in the Wano Arc.
Rocks D. Xebec is an influential and feared figure in One Piece, being the rival of Gol D. Roger and potentially stronger than him. Seeing even a glimpse of his powers and strength will feed Piece fans for decades.
How strong is Rocks D. Xebec compared to other figures in One Piece?
Rocks D. Xebec was the captain of three-fourths of the original Emperors of the Sea. If he could somehow command these personalities together on one ship, he must have immense charisma and power. Kaido even considers him one of the strongest figures in his life.
Xebec is also hinted to be the greatest rival to Gol D. Roger, surpassing even Whitebeard. He was dangerous enough that the Pirate King had to team up with Monkey D. Garp to defeat his crew, dubbed the God Valley Incident. It’s been 38 years since his demise, but his influence is still relevant in One Piece.
We don’t even know Xebec’s full appearance yet. Loki’s past gave us this opportunity, but the chapter still features only a silhouette. Eiichiro Oda seems to want to keep him under tight wraps until the time is right to reveal him.

Where did Loki and Xebec meet? And why is Oda connecting them?
Does this mean Loki might join or clash with Blackbeard?
Either they become teammates, drawn to Xebec’s ideology, or they turn into enemies, since Teach inherited Xebec’s will, while Loki got rejected by Xebec…

Considering we’re in the Final Saga, there’s no telling when Xebec will be revealed. We know his Haki is strong enough that it damaged Kaido. As mentioned earlier, he also has the will of D. In One Piece, which means he certainly wasn’t easy to defeat. Loki’s fight proves it.
Why did Loki believe he could win the fight against Rocks D. Xebec?
In Loki’s defense, he towers over even the giants of Elbaph, so it was possibly bravado that made him believe he could challenge the legendary pirate. In Sengoku’s memory, Xebec looked much shorter than his crew. Loki was, however, humbled quite fast.

We have no idea why he wanted to join the Rocks Pirates or why Xebec rejected him. He was possibly too young, like Luffy when he wanted to join Shanks’ crew. The pirate didn’t even hold back on him, despite his age. Loki should’ve seen this defeat coming.
The Accursed Prince says he admired Rocks D. Xebec, similar to Luffy’s admiration for Shanks. We have no idea if this parallel is a hint to Loki’s good nature. However, why did he want to join the Rocks Pirates? This chapter leaves us with more questions about Xebec than answers.
