I Don’t Think Hailee Steinfeld Confirmed Kate Bishop’s Return in the Next Avengers Movie

Avengers: Doomsday casting announcement did not include many of the popular characters, including Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. However, Marvel Studios had hinted that the movie might include more actors and characters. A video of Steinfeld seemingly confirming her role in the Avengers film went viral recently.

However, I strongly believe the media and fans might’ve misinterpreted Steinfeld’s response to the question. The Dickinson actress first joined the MCU in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, where she seemingly took over the mantle from the titular character played by Jeremy Renner.

Steinfeld then went on to appear in a cameo role in the end credits scene of The Marvels, confirming her role in the upcoming MCU projects. As of now, Marvel has only teased her involvement in a potential Young Avengers movie. It is not very likely that she would join the upcoming two-part Multiverse Saga finale.

Did Hailee Steinfeld confirm Kate Bishop’s appearance in the Avengers film?

Hailee Steinfeld‘s Kate Bishop didn’t receive the grand welcome into the MCU that some of the other characters enjoyed. While some fans were into the interesting dynamics between Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh, others didn’t care for the character. I am among those fans who want to see the MCU develop her character for the better in the upcoming projects.

However, it appears that the next few projects, particularly Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, have no room for Steinfeld’s character. It was at this point that I came across the viral video where Steinfeld was asked, “We’re gonna see Kate Bishop in Avengers?”

Right after the media asked her the question, she nodded. Excited fans took it as a positive response and began spreading the rumor that Kate Bishop appears in the Avengers film. Now, I don’t think the video was correctly interpreted by the media or her excited fans. It appears that she nodded to something else and not as a response to the question. See the video for yourself:

So don’t get your hopes up about seeing Hailee Steinfeld in Doomsday. We will probably see her next in Marvel’s rumored Young Avengers film. The studio dropped hints about this in the film The Marvels. In the closing scenes of Brie Larson’s film, Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan heads to New York to meet with Kate Bishop, hinting at the formation of a Young Avengers team.

It is not just Ms. Marvel and Kate Bishop who will join the new Marvel team. The team will probably include characters like Ironheart, Eli Bradley, America Chavez, Kid Loki, Billy & Tommy Maximoff, and Skaar.

Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel Studios hint at more stars in Avengers: Doomsday

The new Avengers movie just announced its cast, and Marvel fans have a lot to celebrate. The studio already brought peak excitement to fans at last year’s SDCC when they announced Robert Downey Jr.‘s return in the role of Doctor Doom. They also announced at the event that Avengers: Endgame‘s Anthony and Joe Russo will be helming Avengers: Doomsday.

Even though 26 stars were newly announced for the film, sources close to Marvel shared that the studio hasn’t revealed the entire cast (via THR). It was reported that other actors would be unveiled in the lead up to the film. Marvel Studios themselves hinted at adding more stars to the roster in response to Downey Jr.’s comment on the new cast.

Under the video announcement of the cast on Instagram, Downey Jr. teased the appearance of more MCU stars. He commented, “That’s what u call a deep bench of talent… actually it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… That must be it…right?”. Marvel replied, “There’s always room for more…”

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026.
