Justin Baldoni Makes Ryan Reynolds Pay for What He Said About Hugh Jackman

The Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni feud continues to get worse day by day. Not only did both parties’ reputations suffer from the controversy, but several people have been dragged into the mud. The actress’ husband, Ryan Reynolds, was one of those, but of course, he’s got his wife’s back no matter what.

Now, the filmmaker is doing everything to defend himself, and this involves taking some of Reynolds’ past comments. We know that the Deadpool star loves using dark humor and, sometimes, absurd statements to get his point across, but it seems like those words have come back to bite him.

Ryan Reynolds’ dark humor in an interview could do him serious damage

Justin Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against Hollywood power couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for defamation and extortion. The It Ends With Us actress previously accused the director of s*xual misconduct and a smear campaign, which tremendously affected Baldoni’s career.

Now, the filmmaker has seemingly kept all the receipts, and now, he’s whipping them out, including past interviews of the Canadian actor where he made an absurd remark about his fellow star Hugh Jackman. Here’s a screenshot shared on Twitter:

The interview came from an article by The Guardian in July 2024, just before the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine. Reynolds spoke about his friendship with Jackman and how he admired his integrity, work ethic, and humility.

He recalled watching his fellow work on a movie set in 2007 and thought to himself that if he got lucky enough to be in Jackman’s position, he’d only be one-tenth of him. But Reynolds’ popularity grew throughout the years, and he said:

And now that I’m so much bigger than him, I’ve taken many of those lessons. I’ve realized that I’m too big to fail at this point, so I just crush my enemies and drink their blood.

Whoa, this sounds like something Deadpool would actually say in the movies, but Reynolds saying this in an interview was not greatly appreciated by fans. Now, Baldoni is seemingly taking this comment to back up his defense. As the netizen wrote in the tweet, the director is now using Reynolds’ own words against him.

Just recently, Reynolds has requested to be dropped as a defendant from Baldoni’s defamation lawsuit as he claimed he had nothing to do with the issue and that he was only being a supportive spouse via CNN.

The filmmaker claimed Reynolds swore at him at their home in New York, accused him of fat-shaming Lively, and even made fun of him in the Deadpool 3 movie using the character Nicepool. Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, said in a statement that “after lighting a match, Mr. Reynolds now seeks to run from the flames.”
