Previously unseen footage from Superman shows the Man of Steel getting assistance from his dog Krypto, who eventually drags him into the Fortress of Solitude. Director and DC Studios’ co-head James Gunn, while addressing the trailer, mentioned (via Deadline),

I cannot wait to share the film with all of you guys and the rest of the world. We’re still in the throes of post-production. Back in 2018, I was first offered Superman, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, that seems so cool… it seems hard. And they said we also wanted you to do the Suicide Squad, and I took the easy way. It was an R-rated movie about a bunch of ragtag heroes.

Gunn continued that it had stuck with him, and it was a constant thought experiment in his mind. He mentioned that he kept thinking about how to give Superman’s story a modern touch, and it finally hit him one day, so he wanted to do a story that was utterly human and fantastic. James Gunn also noted that the movie celebrates kindness and human love, and he wants people to have that magical feeling.

Actor David Corenswet, who took over the role of Superman from Henry Cavill, appeared on stage and shared his experience playing one of the most celebrated comic book characters. He said (via DCUSuperNews),

It’s a great honor to play a role that is so clearly in the public consciousness. You know what his symbol means… It feels like you’re riding a tidal wave of good vibes and creative choices. It’s not a job. It’s the one thing you want to be doing all the time.

Corenswet also added that he hopes that the audience wants to see more of Superman in the future, noting that his favorite movies are the ones where one comes to the end and thinks back to the beginning of the movie. He wishes to go through that ride again and again.

Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane in the movie, also spoke to the audience by stating that she feels that these stories endure because there is something in them for everyone. The actress mentioned that they get to stand on the shoulders of giants and then find their way into their heads.

Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl and Anthony Carrigan’s Metamorpho new look revealed at CinemaCon

At the 2025 Warner Bros. CinemaCon held in Las Vegas, the highly anticipated new looks of Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl and Anthony Carrigan’s Metamorpho were revealed. (via DCU Hype) Merced’s version of the role is named Kendra Saunders and, over different interviews, has expressed her view on playing a comic book character (via Hola!)

I was a DC kid growing up. We had the action figures, and most of them were so old and used that the paint had come off… But I really adored Hawkgirl. I had Hawkgirl and Hawkman as a part of my collection. Well, technically it wasn’t mine. It was my siblings and my collection.

The actress is also a huge fan of James Gunn’s work, noting that he has curated a lot of her favorite childhood movies, including Scooby-Doo movies. Merced mentioned that being able to work with him and learn from him was awesome.

On her appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actress mentioned;

The whole movie is very loyal to the comic books but with a James Gunn twist. I really think it’s funny; it’s clever, but it’s heartwarming.

On the other hand, Anthony Carrigan, who plays Metamorpho in the movie, also had his new look unveiled. The actor had spoken to THR earlier and mentioned;

I do think that Superman has the same heart and intelligence [like Guardians]. That’s James’ trademark. But I think it’s going to be its own thing entirely.

The actor mentioned that the process of working on Superman was such a special one, and the whole cast was on board with bringing something really special to it. So, they are all hopeful that their hard work is conveyed on-screen and to the audience.

Superman is set to release on July 11, 2025.
