The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced immediate financial assistance of RM1,000 for every student, teacher, and staff member affected by the recent gas pipeline fire incident in Putra Heights.
According to Astro Awani and Kosmo Online, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the financial aid was part of the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the safety and welfare of all individuals within the education ecosystem.
Distribute RM1,000 to affected member
As an initial step, the Ministry will distribute RM1,000 to each student, teacher, and education staff member from the MoE who was affected. This includes additional support such as school-related assistance,” she said during a press conference.

Fadhlina revealed that some MoE personnel suffered major losses, including the total destruction of school supplies and personal belongings.
The Ministry, she added, is committed to meeting the needs of affected individuals to ensure their education is not disrupted.
Will also provide psychosocial and academic support
Beyond financial aid, the Ministry will also provide psychosocial and academic support to help students recover from the trauma.
School sessions for the affected students may be postponed depending on their health and readiness following this incident,” she added.
So far, 102 students, five teachers, and several MoE staff members have been identified as victims of the fire, with four students currently receiving treatment in hospital. The affected individuals come from 23 schools in the area.
The State Education Department has been instructed to monitor the situation closely to ensure that assistance is delivered promptly.
Meanwhile, organisations such as Yayasan Guru Tuan Hussin On and Yayasan Bidik Negara are also lending their support to ensure the wellbeing of affected MoE members is well taken care of.
