Virgin River star Alexandra Breckenridge has shared an exciting update on season 7 filming.
“I’m just getting ready for bed here. I’ve been working today,” the Netflix star, 42, said in a video on her Instagram Stories on March 25, according to Hello! Magazine. “I’m sure some of you are interested – I can’t show you everything – but I can do a little something, something. Yeah, so anyway, we did table reads today. It’s very exciting. I know you guys aren’t in on it, but we do them in Jack’s bar, which is fun.”
Alexandra, who stars as Melinda “Mel” Monroe in Virgin River, teased that she would be taking fans along with her soon for some behind the scenes content during filming.
The This Is Us actress previously teased on March 17 that she was in Vancouver, Canada, to film the show when she shared an Instagram video alongside costar Martin Henderson, who plays Jack Sheridan. The onscreen couple posed together as Martin, 50, waved at the camera.
“Where could we possibly be?” Alexandra coyly asked as she panned the camera around to show that they were standing in Mel’s cabin.
Alexandra’s updates came days after Netflix announced some casting changes for season 7. The streaming service revealed on March 14 that the series had resumed filming with “two new faces,” Sara Canning and Cody Kearsley, on the cast list.
Sara, 37, will be playing “ex-cop Victoria, who was shot in the line of duty and now works for the state medical board as an investigator. Victoria comes to Virgin River to look into Doc’s practice but runs into a friend she wouldn’t mind catching up with … or maybe even pursuing something more.”
Cody, 34, is set to play “the tough, athletic Clay. The kind of guy who gets noticed when he enters a room, Clay has experience working the rodeo circuit. He grew up in foster care with his younger sister, whom he hasn’t seen since he was a teenager. He’s been looking for her ever since.”
Meanwhile, it was also announced that Mark Ghanime, who plays Cameron Hayek, is not expected to return for season 7.
“I love Mark, who plays Cameron, and I love the character of Cameron,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told TVLine in December 2024. “He will always be a part of the world, and I would love to see his character back, but he won’t be a series regular in season 7, unfortunately.”
In addition to Alexandra and Martin, season 7 is set to star returning cast members Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Marco Grazzini, Kai Bradbury and Kandyse McClure.
“There’s a lot more to go here with these characters,” Patrick told Tudum before revealing what’s to come in season 7. “I think we’ve only just begun to see Mel and Jack function as a married couple, which is exciting. [Season 7] explore the honeymoon phase for them as they’re building their lives on the farm, which can come with its own obstacles.”
Virgin River season 7 does not yet have a premiere date, but seasons 1 through 6 are now streaming on Netflix.
