Moonrise: Who Are Chiaki Kobayashi, Yuto Uemura, Kosuke Takaguchi, and More Voicing in the Upcoming Netflix Anime?

Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi anime Moonrise is an exciting event for all anime lovers. The series is based on a sci-fi book that promises an intense, emotional story set against the backdrop of a divided Earth and Moon.

If it sounds intriguing already, you might want to mark your calendars because the series will be available to stream very soon. The premiere is set for April 10, 2025, and the fans are eager to see how the series’ stellar cast, with a lot of experience from popular shows, will bring the characters to life.

Moonrise is a tale that not only brings out the best because of its narrative and settings but also because it is extremely character-driven. The cast is the driving force behind the development of each character.

A stellar cast that will captivate the fans

Chiaki Kobayashi voices the protagonist, Jacob “Jack” Shadow. The main character is a young soldier who gets caught up in a conflict that eventually forces him to explore and tackle his own dark past.

Kobayashi is an experienced voice actor and has steadily risen to fame, delivering standout performances in roles like Gabimaru in Hell’s Paradise, Langa Hasegawa in SK8 the Infinity, and Mash Burnedead in Mashle.

He has immaculate control of his emotions and the uncanny ability to balance youthful determination with raw emotional depth. This is what will help him be the perfect choice to bring Jack to life.

On the other hand, Yūto Uemura takes on the role of Phil Ash, Jack’s former best friend turned enemy. It might seem like a classic plot element or a cliche, but Uemura could make a lot of difference to it.

He has made a name for himself with powerful performances as Thorfinn in Vinland Saga, Atsushi Nakajima in Bungou Stray Dogs, and Hiro in DARLING in the FRANXX.

These are all impactful roles; there is no doubt that his experience voicing the conflicted, morally torn characters would make Phil’s journey one of the most complex yet compelling parts of Moonrise.

Moonrise has veteran actors for the best performance

Veteran voice actor Kosuke Takaguchi is going to contribute by portraying Osma, a key figure in the unfolding war. Takaguchi is known for his roles as Muscular in My Hero Academia, Ralph in Attack on Titan, and Kobanza in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

Takaguchi specializes in playing characters with commanding presences, like leaders or mentors. His deep, authoritative voice will likely make Osma a charismatic figure.

Satoshi Yamaguchi, recognized for his work in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Castellan), My Hero Academia (Timothy Agpar and BROWN Vice Commander), lends his voice to Duan. Yamaguchi is an all-rounder who excels at both comedic and intense roles.

Kori Arisa plays Inanna Zinger, a character who could be a vital player in Moonrise. Though less widely known than some of her co-stars, Arisa has built a reputation for bringing intelligent female characters to life. She worked on Kaori Sakuramori in THE IDOLM@STER Million Live!, Yawara Naekawa in Shine Post, and Shizuka Kitaumekawa in Happy Sugar Life.

Yuka Terasaki joins the cast in a yet-to-be-revealed role. Some surprises are worth waiting for. Tersaki is no newbie, known for voicing Nino in Pokémon Journeys and Sasha in Attack on Titan; this could mean another intriguing character. With such a brilliant cast, it remains to be seen how Moonrise will impress.

Moonrise will be available to stream on Netflix from April 10, 2025.
