Fortnite features a lot of exotic weapons and items, many of which come with quite a few special effects. For example, the Victory Crown is a rather common collectible that is handed out to players after they manage to win a match.
However, there do exist a few additional exotic items which are otherwise quite hard to obtain. One of these items is the Rift Launcher, a gun that is (as the name suggests) capable of opening up portals between two places.

The gun can be used strategically, and brings with it quite a few intriguing gameplay possibilities, but how can players unlock the same in Fortnite? More on the same below.
How to get the Rift Launcher in Fortnite

The Rift Launcher was introduced in Fortnite past the Chapter 6, Season 2 (Lawless) update. Lawless brought with it many updates and changes, including exotic new weaponry, of varying uses. Like most of the previously released Lawless weapons, the Rift Launcher is locked to the Black Markets.
There are many Black Markets in Fortnite, but the one housing the Rift Launcher can be found within Rogue Repairs Black Market in particular, found northeast of the Masked Meadows. Refer to the in-game map screenshot for an approximate location.
Once nearby, head inside the Backroom of the Black market, which is unlockable using the Common Outlaw Keycard. There should be a variety of weapons on display here, but the Rift Launcher can be purchased for exactly one Dill Bit.
Dill Bits are a new feature introduced with the Lawless update – and readers can refer to here for more up-to-date information regarding their locations in the game. Regardless of the method, simply interact with the weapons display to proceed.
More on the weapon itself below, and of its uses:
As the name implies, the Lawless Rift Launcher resembles a launcher of sorts, and is capable of firing Rifts. For the uninitiated, Rifts are portals that can be used to connect two points in the game.
While they are mostly used for transportation, Rifts can also be quite useful in gameplay (functioning similarly to those seen within other games such as Portal and Splitgate).
As such, the weapon can be quite deadly in the right hands, and is recommended to grab at your earliest. It definitely isn’t an easy-to-use weapon though – so make sure to be well-versed in its capabilities before grabbing it.
Interestingly, the Rift Launcher has unlimited ammunition, but can only hold two charges at a time. The Launcher needs exactly 22 seconds to replenish its ammo, and can be fired using the Shoot button (RB/Left Click).
Once fired, a portal will appear in the sky, and can also be used to traverse very long distances across the map – or even throw unsuspecting enemy players. Alternatively, one can purchase Rifts directly from certain NPCs at 450 Gold a piece.
