A huge part of the wrestling global juggernaut, WWE, has been iconic rivalries. Many top WWE superstars in different eras and generations have gone on to have epic feuds that have been etched in the history books of the company forever. A prime example from the modern era has been the rivalry between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
The Beast Incarnate has been considered one of the Reigns’ first true major rivals in WWE. Lesnar helped kick-start Roman’s ascension to the top as a singles WWE star. This began with their first feud heading into WrestleMania 31, which was an epic showdown in its own right.

Fast-forward three years, and Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar once again found themselves in front of each other on the road to WrestleMania. However, that year’s match at The Grandaddy of Them All was nothing but a disaster for a main event showdown.
Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns at WrestleMania was a lackluster main event

Roman Reigns, who is still battling cancer, won the 2018 Elimination Chamber match against top six WWE competitors of the modern era. In doing so, The OTC won the right to challenge Brock Lesnar for his WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34.
At the time, WWE was pushing Roman Reigns as a hard-luck underdog and babyface character who was heavily booed by the fans. The fans showed displeasure on RAW as the storyline progressed and were frustrated to see Reigns getting a WrestleMania main event.
The loud boos and jeers followed to the Mercedes Superdome for the main event match at WrestleMania 34. The fans had no interest in watching the bout and were busy enjoying themselves on their own. Moreover, they could be heard chanting the names of other WWE superstars and even showered “This is Awful” chants during the match.
Furthermore, Roman Reigns getting busted open and taking five F-5s also did not earn him sympathy from the audience. Lastly, Brock Lesnar executing a sixth F-5 and pinning Reigns’ shoulders to the mat also didn’t garner any reaction that would usually happen if the fans enjoyed a WrestleMania main event.
Never forget when fans show their displeasured for the main event between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, who somehow survives 5 F5s before succumbing to a 6th

Most famously, as seen in a behind-the-scenes video, Lesnar expressed his displeasure with the match by tossing the Universal title towards Vince McMahon. This has been called one of the worst WrestleMania main events of all time, which the fans wished they had never seen.
Are Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar still in WWE?

Roman Reigns turned heel in 2020, and that marked his rise as one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. With the WrestleMania season underway, Reigns is set to participate in his 11th main event against Seth Rollins and CM Punk at WrestleMania 41.
On the other hand, Brock Lesnar was last seen on WWE TV at the SummerSlam 2023 PLE, losing a high-profile match to Cody Rhodes. Before he could return, his name was linked to the Vince McMahon-Janel Grant s*x trafficking and s*xual misconduct.
Things got even worse for Lesnar as his name officially came up in the amended lawsuit at the start of 2025. So it remains to be seen if The Beast would get legal clearance and return to WWE after a long time away.
