Sony revealed the casting details and the structure of the movies at CinemaCon 2025, held in Los Angeles. Director Sam Mendes, who previously directed Skyfall and 1917, will also direct all four movies of this project. About the project, Mendes has said to People,
I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies. The Beatles changed my understanding of music. I’ve been trying to make a movie about them for years.
The Beatles have a long and winding history with films. During their prime time, they appeared in movies, including A Hard Day’s Night and Help! Their music and rise to stardom have inspired many. However, releasing four interconnected films in the same month will certainly be a first in the history of cinema.
Casting of The Beatles biopic
Along with the release date, the casting details of the biopics were also announced at CinemaCon. Director Mendes has carefully chosen four eminent actors to play the role of the four legendary figures of the band. Paul Mescal, famous for his roles in Normal People and Aftersun, will portray Paul McCartney. Harris Dickinson, known for his roles in The King’s Man and Beach Rats, will portray John Lennon.

Actor Joseph Quinn, popular for his role as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, will portray George Harrison. Lastly, Barry Keoghan, famous for his roles in Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn, will play the role of Ringo Starr.
These actors have expressed enthusiasm for their roles. Though they initially dodged the question about The Beatles project, Dickinson mentioned to The Hollywood Reporter in January that the casting “would be splendid” and “a brilliant opportunity.”
