Donnie Wahlberg‘s wife, Jenny McCarthy, is so thankful for their love and respect for one another. She dished on her marriage to the Blue Bloods actor, which has been going strong since 2014.
Jenny, 52, told People in a recent interview that she and Donnie, 55, “continue to date each other.”
“I think we get really complacent and it can become a brother and sister relationship real quick, unless you do the work,” the Masked Singer judge told the outlet about relationships.
“And I just played this game with him called ‘Questions,’” Jenny revealed. “And it’s a thing that we put into our marriage, which is every once in a while we’ll play this game and we have to ask questions that we don’t know the answer to because you already know what you think are answers to everything after 10 years.”
She said that playing the game keeps “curiosity going in our relationship.”
The former cohost of The View also said that Donnie, who has been a member of New Kids on the Block for four decades, “sings around the house all the time.”
“Me, not so much because I’m a little embarrassed, I’m a little tone deaf,” Jenny admitted about her singing abilities. “But being married to a musician is one of the greatest extra cherry on tops in a relationship because you get to go to his job and it’s a concert of the music you love and then you’re at home and he’s in the shower and he’s singing a song.”
Jenny went on to say that she is “very lucky.”
Earlier this year, Donnie made some equally as sweet comments about his marriage to Jenny and the secret to keeping their love alive.
“Always put the relationship first,” he told In Touch in January. “Despite every other thing we do, we put each other first, and by doing that, it gives us room to do all these other things. We refer to it as holding each other’s kite strings while the other one flies. We’re very supportive of each other because neither one of us is worried that we’re not giving the relationship everything we have.”
The couple recently got to work together on the ID special Very Scary Lovers, a process that Donnie called “effortless.”
“We’ve been married for 10 years and together 12, and we have a good shorthand,” he told the outlet. “We know each other’s strengths and when to lean on the other. Hopefully we’ll do more together.”
Jenny is Donnie’s biggest champion, and will no doubt be supporting him amid his next work venture — leading a Blue Bloods expansion show called Boston Blue. Donnie will be reprising his Blue Bloods character, Danny Reagan, in the Boston-based series, which will premiere this fall on CBS.
“So excited to carry on the tradition, to share so many surprises, to answer some unanswered questions and to welcome all of you — to #BostonBlue! The next chapter in the #BlueBloods legacy begins. I can’t wait. See you CBS fall!” the CBS personality wrote on Instagram along with a teaser trailer of the offshoot series last month.
